also known as Phil Aurbach
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1973 in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis. I then attended the University of San Diego School of Law and graduated in 1977 after serving as the Research Editor of the San Diego Law Review. After a brief period with the Clark County District Attorney’s office and several law firms, In 1987 I became a partner in the firm of Lehman & Aurbach. A year later, Jack Lehman was appointed District Court Judge by Governor Bryan, and in 1988 I merged his firm with Mr. Marquis' firm.
Currently, I am one of the founding shareholders at Marquis & Aurbach. I was admitted to practice in Nevada in September 1977. I enjoy contract law, commercial litigation, real estate law, partnership and corporate dissolution, as well as mediating and arbitrating business disputes.
I have taken numerous matters to trial before juries and judges as well as representing clients in arbitration and on appeal. I only take civil cases. One of the largest was winning a multi-million dollar breach of contract award on behalf of a health care provider after 22 days of arbitration against an HMO.
I addition to representing clients in arbitrations, I am a AAA arbitrator and a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge.
I have lectured for the Nevada Bar, the Clark County Bar and various national legal education companies on evictions, deed of trust foreclosures, repossession of personal property under the U.C.C, effective use of the trial notebook in preparing for and conducting personal injury and contract trials, techniques for enforcing judgments (most notably: "How to Grab a Debtor by the Assets and Not Let Go" and "How to Fire Employees Without Making Them Cry" as well as "How to Win Trials with your Computer Without Looking Like a Total Geek."
My hobby is playing in national tennis tournaments for my age division.
