    • I do not recommend John Barrett.
    • I hired John 1-3 years ago.
    • John handled my Divorce / Separation matter.

John was my divorce attorney and routinely ignored my requests and courses of actions that I wanted to have happened. He did so by telling me that my ideas won't look good. Well it was a nasty divorce and my ex was especially nasty and ruthless and full of lies.

In the final orders hearing there were three items I kept pushing him to address, he addressed non of them and justified himself by saying that the other side already conceded to the items however in their concession they made negative untrue remarks. In the end while the other side conceded my case was ultimately damaged because my side was never heard. One of the items concerned my a house which my mother purchased years and years ago and recently put me on the title and which I had no equity in however I could not get my name off the title due to restrictions that occur once a divorce is filed, the other side conceded that they had no interest in the house (they knew that I had no equity in it but did not say so), I urged John to make a remark acknowledging the concession and provide the proof I gave him that I had no equity in it, he did not do so and the court assumed I had equity in the home in its final decision thus greatly reducing my share of division of property. Furthermore John placed a lien on the house for his remaining attorney fees of about $10,000 after already collecting $80,000. My mother eventually sold the house a year after the finalization of the divorce and after I removed myself from the title and was no longer occupying the house and I walked away as if I had been renting the house and knowing I had no equity in it. When she sold the house she had to pay John for my attorney fees which I owed him.

By the way I lost my job two days after the finalization of the divorce. I have no doubt that he withheld the information I urged him to present for his own security.

    • I recommend John Barrett.
    • I hired John more than 3 years ago.
    • John handled my Marriage / Prenuptials matter.
    • I have previously worked with 1-2 lawyers.

I needed a prenup quickly and John helped me with that. It was great to be able to have it handled so professionally. He is easy to talk to and after understanding my needs, he made sound recommendations for me. I am happy I found and used John for my case.
