Mr. Butler and his staff gave me a Christmas present I'll never forget - a case dismissal!!
After wading through the leagal system, Mr. Butler took the reins and was so helpful all the way through to the end.
His staff was always helpful, courteous and polite, reminding me when I had court and what I was supposed to do.
Very Very Merry Christmas to you all and thanks again for all you've done.
If you're looking for a great lawyer and a great person, then you should definitely hire James or as I call him "Jim". I hired Jim to defend me in an extremely important case and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I researched attorneys and was drawn in by not only his experience, but I also gathered that he cared about what he was doing. He proved me right and in the process I learned that he cared about people. Jim is a wise man, he stood by me, worked with me, got to know me and put it all into play. I was acquitted of the charge against me and feel very thankful to have found Jim and his always friendly staff. This is what I was looking for in an attorney and if this is what anyone else is looking for in an attorney, I suggest you hire Jim Butler.
I was arrested for a Dwi and it felt like the end of the world for me. I thought my job was gonna fire me and I would be hit with fines that I could not pay. I came across Mr. Butler on Avvo.com and figured I'd get a consultation because of his good reviews. I couldn't have been any happier with his service and the result of my case . Come to find out, Mr Butler discovered that the arresting officer was fired from the police department for lying/providing false police reports on the job. Mr Butler aggressively went after this and on trial day, the Da had no choice but to dismiss the case. I couldn't have had a better experience with a lawyer like James Butler. He's very intelligent and will answer all your questions so you understand completely. I am truly happy for this!
Wow...Just wow! I can't even begin to explain the good work this man has done! He is truly a gem within his profession. He and his staff are honestly some of the nicest people I've met. From the very moment I walked into his office, Jim made me feel respected, understood and put me at ease given the situation I was facing (which was not an easy one). He really made me feel like I had someone in my corner who would fight for me and wanted me to prevail. He always took a "we" approach to the matter and I never felt alone throughout the process which I'm definitely grateful for. He also took into account all facets and details of my case, then literally "worked his magic" and ultimately had my case DISMISSED! Jim Butler has got to be the #1 DWI lawyer in all of Texas, if not the entire nation! I mean that sincerely. I still can't believe I'm one of the people writing a review about our success, as his great reviews were initially the main reason I chose Jim to represent me. I'd recommend anyone faced with a DWI choose Jim with complete confidence. He is the absolute best out there.
I was pulled over in January 2015 after eating dinner at a Mexican food restaurant with my wife. I did not use a blinker taking a left turn and according to the officer cut in front of oncoming traffic making cars "slam" on their brakes. None of the drivers honked at me and neither my Wife nor I thought we were in any danger of an accident but we were pulled over anyway. I knew there would be trouble because we both had 2 margaritas at dinner and were pulled over a couple blocks from the restaurant. Sure enough the officer smelled the alcohol and proceeds to question me and administered field sobriety tests. I specifically remember him saying "You are right on the edge". He then called in a DWI task force officer who did the same tests. I felt that I did a really good job and was expecting to be let go. No such luck. I am taken to the downtown jail, processed and then forced to do the same tests again. I nail them. Then I am asked if I want to give a blood or breath test. I then ask for an attorney which, come to find out, is considered a refusal. The officer goes to the judge and gets a blood warrant and a blood sample is taken. You simply cannot refuse anymore. So much for the constitution. The next day after a long night in jail i get home and immediately start my search for a lawyer. Mr. Butler seemed to have a good track record and specifically deals with DWI cases. I decide to call him and reach his assistant who immediately transfers me to Mr. Butler. This surprised me because it was a Saturday. We speak and I am immediately at ease talking with him. I decide to meet at his office on Monday. I know I have found my lawyer. April comes after a couple court resets waiting on my blood test results. When we see the # we are both shocked.. 0.249. I am devastated because I know there is no possible way. I nailed the tests, I remember everything, it simply cannot be that high. I am forced to get an interlock device in my car and I am put on bond supervision. One more court reset and then after reviewing my videos from the jail we both decide to take the case to trial. FINALLY after much stress, more monthly fees, more court resets the trial begins on Nov 2. Of course I am beyond nervous and Mr. Butler can see that. He tells me not worry and to just let him work. I can sit back and relax as he does not want me to testify. Whew! Relieved! Mr. Butler is amazing at questioning the prosecution's witnesses. He has deep knowledge of how blood alcohol is tested and the procedure law enforcement officials are supposed to go through when testing blood. Using that knowledge he found mistakes, on video, in how the nurse who took my blood handled and packaged it. There was also some questionable paper work from the lab that tested my blood which he was able to dig up. Also, there was my video of me nailing the tests which he cleverly played on a loop to run over and over for the jury. His passionate closing argument really had me feeling that we had proven reasonable doubt. After 2 days of working his magic the Jury goes into their room to deliberate my fate. Almost 2 hours go by and I am about to lose it. Finally they have a verdict. We stand and the verdict is read, "NOT GUILTY" !!!!
I cannot believe it. Even Mr. Butler tells me it won't sink in until later. We shake hands, hug it out and I congratulate him and thank him profusely. He mentions that this is the highest BAC in a case he has ever won. I wouldn't be surprised if it is mentioned in a law publication.
I will forever be grateful to Mr. Butler. He is a wonderful attorney, a true professional and a very genuine, caring human being.
I heard from Mr. Butler yesterday - four words that sounded like music: your case was dismissed!
Mr. Butler stuck to his stand - there was no reason for me to be pulled over, by an officer from outside of the jurisdiction, called into the area by one of his friends.
Mr. Butler's extensive experience in his practice area (DWI/DUI) came through for me when I heard the music - "your case was dismissed"!
If you need legal services in this respect, in my opinion, you need Mr. Jim Butler's talent on your side.
Well Done, Sir!!
Mr. Butler and his assistant Kristen are the best! Yes, he is a bit expensive but worth every dime. My daughter was arrested for a DWI. She is a good kid and had never been in trouble before, not even a speeding ticket. The evidence against her was not good. She had almost double the legal limit when she took the blow test and they had a video. The video was not the problem, it was that blow test she took. But Mr. Butler got the blow test thrown out and the case was eventually dismissed. He works from the point of view of trying to get the cases dismissed and not just getting the "best deal". It took over six months and my daughter did have to show up for docket call several times but Mr. Butler was always there and he always took the time to explain to her (and me) what was going on. He was quick to return phone calls and emails to answer any questions that I had (and I had a lot). His assistant Kristen is just as good. I could call her up anytime and she was always there to answer questions or just listen. They both make you feel at ease and understand what a difficult time this is. Do not look for any other lawyer, Mr. Butler is your best choice, hands down. You would be foolish to look elsewhere!

After being arrested for DWI in earlier this year I knew I needed to find a lawyer fast. I looked through a copy of Houstonia magazine that had a list of the top lawyers in Houston. I met with several of the DWI lawyers, but after speaking with Mr. Butler I knew he would be my man. He seemed much more confident and knowledgable than the others I had spoken with, and this helped ease my nervousness. He made me feel like I actually had a chance to beat this thing. I had refused a breathalyzer and a warrant was issued to draw my blood. My BAC came back over the .08 limit. Even when I thought it was hopeless, Mr. Butler never stopped believing we could win. He won my ALR hearing, so I got to keep my driver's license with no restrictions, and he also fought to keep an interlock device out of my car. Mr. Butler and his legal assistant, Christin, were always available if I needed to talk or had any questions about my case, and they always kept me up to date on everything that was happening. They really care about their clients. After several stressful months and a few resets, Mr. Butler got my case DISMISSED! I was so happy. Mr. Butler will be handling my expungement as well. I HIGHLY recommend James Butler if you find yourself with a DWI charge. He is the best! Thank you Mr. Butler!

I was pulled over and charged with DWI. I interviewed a few lawyers around Houston and Mr. Butler was clearly a cut above the rest. He kept me informed and involved me whenever he could. I had denied all tests and eventually a warrant was placed for my blood which came back at a .18. A big number, but Mr. Butler was willing to tackle it head on. He used a very savvy technique in the courtroom and quickly had the jurors on our side. The verdict was not guilty and I have Mr. Butler to thank for that.
