Lawyer's Comment: This person, whoever they he or she is, is not a current Client or former Client that we are aware of. Very simply, we meet with many people. We tell the truth, every time. Apparently you can satisfy 99.99% of the people but that .01% is not attainable. I repeat here that this person is not a current or formal Client of our Firm. Avvo.com is calling this a Client review. This is not a Client that we have represented or have ever represented in any matter that we are aware of. I have no idea who this person is. I have asked for an opportunity to rectify with this individual if they are in fact a Client, but Avvo.com has refused to tell me who it is pursuant to their policies. I disputed this matter with Avvo.com, and I am still disputing the matter with Avvo.com. Our office handles more pro-bono (for free) cases than any Firm I am aware of in Private Practice related to Foreclosure Defense Litigation in the Country. This issue is beyond frustrating for our staff and the other Attorneys who strive to provide the highest quality service to our actual Clients. To have someone here tarnish our reputation without an opportunity to discover who this person is completely unfair. I cannot even confirm if this is a real review. Because of the Avvo.com policy I cannot confirm if we ever met with this person. If this person is real and they came in for a consultation, I apologize that we were not able to take your case. We simply cannot take every case. We never let a Client hire us on the first day we meet. We actually tell our Clients to interview with other Attorneys. Our Prospective Client consultations are as much an interview of the Prospective Clients as it is an opportunity for the Prospective Client to interview our Firm. This individual is not our Client, never was our Client and I offer here a clear message to this individual, if you did come to our office and you were not satisfied, I extend my hand to you. I hereby offer you an opportunity to come in again and we will sit with you and do our best for you. However, you must recognize that there is a limit to what we or anybody can do. We see cases everyday where a Prospective Client wants to hire our Firm and we review their circumstances and we have to make the gut wrenching decisions of who we can help and who we cannot. What you have done here is tarnish the reputation of people who genuinely care and you will have to deal with the fact others will not come see us. Our Firm teaches a Continuing Legal Education course for attorneys and non-attorneys on the subject of mortgage foreclosure defense litigation. This course is given by our Firm free of charge, to our competition, no less in the interest of assisting as many people as possible in their dealings with their creditors. The Attorneys who take this course earn credit towards their continuing education requirements. Please contact our office for a free copy of the course material. No Federal or State government grants support our research, writing or white papers on the subject of foreclosure defense litigation. To our knowledge, we are the only firm in the country who has an attorney-staffed research department dedicated to foreclosure defense litigation. We have been invited to more than fifty speaking engagements to lecture on the subject of foreclosure defense litigation in Illinois. To this day, we have never once charged a speaking fee for our efforts. Upon invitation, we have lectured to civic organizations, to the constituents of elected political figures, religious organizations, educational institutions, public libraries, real estate offices and other law offices on the subject of foreclosure defense litigation.

Lawyer's Comment: Our Clients typically come in nervous and fearful, and hence the reason we have never allowed them to hire us the first day, ever. That is why we have published over thirty legal guides, and literally answered hundreds of other questions online for people to Prospective Clients to prepare them for the meeting with the our Office. As a note to the above, as of March 2009, there were 277 new foreclosure filings every single day. As of January 2010 that number was 338 every day. As of February 2010 that number shot up to 412. That was just Cook County. That number does not include any other county in Illinois; Not DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, Grundy, Will, Kankakee or McHenry County, just Cook County. Our Firm believes in quality and never quantity. We handle a limited set of cases to ensure the most proper defensive and offensive strategy for our Clients. In addition to the above referenced publication, we have published over thirty legal guides ranging from guides titled “What is a Deed In Lieu of Foreclosure?” to “Mortgage Foreclosure Rescue Scams”. All of our guides are free to the public and are on our website, Sulaimanlaw.com. These guides are also viewed nationally as many of them describe the effects of Federal statues such as the Truth In Lending Act (TILA). Every prospective client that contacts our office receives, upon request, a free copy of some of our course work. Our guides are used all over the country, and literally thousands of people have read, and we hope, benefitted from them. We do not, and have never practiced law outside the state of Illinois. Our guides are read around the country and around the world. We have had inquiries for our services from as far as Canada and parts of Europe. These individuals own property located in Illinois and required our litigation services.

Lawyer's Comment: In addition to our publications, our office has heavily researched and produced memoranda and white papers on the subject of the Illinois Mortgage Rescue Fraud Act. Our office is not a distressed property consultant, nor is our office engaged in mortgage rescue consulting or purchasing. We do not currently, and have never represented, any firm that attempts to offer assistance to people who are in financial distress, i.e. firms or individuals not exempt from the Illinois Mortgage Rescue Fraud Act. We receive constant inquiry from individuals who want an “attorney” to assist them with ‘assisting” distressed borrowers. We have never worked with such firms, and never will. In fact, we are the firm that has to pick up the pieces after the failed work of mortgage rescue scammers, their attorneys and other attorneys who do more harm than good. Greater than 20% of our prospective clients are referred to us by other attorneys and I would estimate that greater than 40% of our prospective clients are referred to us by other professionals in general. A number of our clients are, in fact, attorneys.

Lawyer's Comment: To advertise our service we have never used any of the following methods:

1. Sent a prospective consumer a post card.
2. Letter of Solicitation.
3. Advertised on the radio.
4. Advertised on television.
5. Advertised on a billboard.
6. Bought leads.
7. Bought foreclosure defendant listings.
8. Fax blasting.
9. Paid brokers fees to bring our firm business. This is a common practice that I have repeatedly communicated to the Attorney General’s Office about.

Lawyer's Comment: A prospective client must have contacted us first and spoken to a staff member, to even receive a communication from our office. Most of our Clients are highly educated individuals or corporations who require our assistance. In fact, the majority of our clients have reached out to us for assistance after visiting our website, or after being referred by a former or current client.

Lawyer's Comment: I sincerely appreciate this comment. As Attorneys we have a special duty to inform our Clients of their options. More often than not, the fear that grips people in difficult situations is based on a lack of information. In the truest sense, Attorneys are responsible for educating their Clients, and sometimes that means reminding them that going through financial difficulty does not mean they are bad people or irresponsible. I hope that we were of help.
