Mejia v. Ruiz, 985 So.2d 1109 (Fla. DCA3. 2008)

Practice Area: Debt Collection

Outcome: Hard fought victory

Description: The defendants included a property manager and insurance litigator who dissolved corporation after client hurt on the premises of Defendants' corporately titled apartment building. Proceedings supplementary evolved to decision which now states that improper dissolution of a corporation (as allowed under Florida statute) may subject directors and shareholders to personal liability -- which is what occurred in this case.
