I found myself in the unfortunate situation of a dui arrest. Since I had never faced anything like this before I was totally stressed out and had no idea what to expect. I saw Mr. Lawson's website and decided to give him a call. He answered his own phone and spoke with me at length about my options. Mr. Lawson kept me informed throughout the process, which took several months. He was easily accessible and promptly responded to all my emails. In fact, he encouraged me to ask questions as they arose. He prepared me in advance of my court date by having me complete certain requirements and begin community service. In the end, Mr. Lawson was able to negotiate with the prosecutor and police officer to have my charge reduced to reckless driving. I was required to pay a fine and complete community service. Mr. Lawson recently represented my 17 year old daughter. When I first contacted him, he called personally called back (instead of a receptionist), within a few hours. It only took that long as he was on a plane, and called as soon as he landed! Thru a lot of patience and hard work, he got the DUI reduced to a first offender obstruction charge, as well as several others thrown out. During the months it took to get this resolved, he would keep in constanct contact and keep us apprised of the situation and meetings he had with the prosecutor. He did an awesome job!

In July of 2011, I was charged with my first DUI. Mr Lawson was able to have that charge completely dismissed.
My blood test took 4 months to come back: and was .118; well over the limit. Having a valid drivers license is a requirement for my job. Losing the license would mean losing my job. Mr Lawson's first advice was to recommend that I go ahead and complete the requirements for the charge as if I were found guilty – completion of the DUI course, 80 hours of community service (even though the penalty for 1st time offense is 40 hours, Mr Lawson recommended that I get 80 hours) and an assessment to determine if I needed substance abuse counseling. Mr Lawson then talked to the prosecutor before the arraignment and was able to work out a deal that involved a fine and reduced the DUI charge to a city ordinance violation. Not only did I not lose my license - but nothing will show up on my driving record. During the wait for my BAC to come back, Mr Lawson was always available to answer any questions I had. The weekend before my arraignment, my wife and I were quite anxious. He was very patient and took calls from both me and my wife. Taking the time to answer the questions that we both had. Despite the fact that it was a weekend, he encouraged us to call him back at any time if we had more questions. I honestly believe that I could not have asked for better legal representation. In 2006, I was charged with a DUI and was terrified. I didn't know what to do or who to listen too. I got all the brochures in the mail and interviewed four different lawyers. There was something about the way Richard spoke to me. I knew I could trust him. I decided to put the future of my life in his hands and retain him as my lawyer. It was the best decision I made! The process was very long. In my case, almost 4 years. He was there every step of the way! He always answered the phone or called me right back. He explained everything to me and didn't leave any questions unanswered. He made sure I understood what was going on and about to happen. I was scared, but at least I knew what to expect and wasn't surprised. In a difficult time where I felt all alone, he made me feel like I wasn't and that there was hope. I called Richard on a Saturday afternoon and not only did he answer but spoke with me at length about my options and what he could do to help me. I had never had any legal issues before so of course was distraught and confused. He was so reassuring (even made me laugh) that I hired him immediately. Everything he did from that point on was incredible! He kept me informed about what was going on via email and calls. His investigation revealed an omission made by the police officers, which helped my case. At the initial motion hearing, with the courtroom completely full, Richard spoke to the DA and mine was the first suit to be scheduled, saving me hours of waiting that day. I was arrested for a Dui, blew a .19 after being taken back to the station, and had been quite belligerent with the Georgia Nighthawk DUI task force officer. Mr. Lawson was able to avoid all jail time and had me placed on Probation for 12 months along with certain conditions I had to complete. I'm pretty sure because of him, I was accepted to UGA Law School, University of Florida Law School, and University of Alabama Law School this past year. While I didn't accept at any of the schools, I will be apply to the schools of Mr. Lawson's caliber like Emory, Columbia, and NYU and hopefully get in one day. Unfortunately, I got myself in what I call big trouble. Four tickets, a DUI being one of them, I actually deserved this DUI after an evening out with the girls when someone started us on shots of tequila. I was quite intoxicated, to the point it did not register that I should drive. An accident ensued. If you read the mandatory guidelines for sentencing, I was facing big trouble and jail time.
Richard was able to get three of the four tickets dismissed, and I was sentenced to the minimum requirements. His relationships to the judge, the arresting officer and knowledge of the law is extremely helpful in dealing with the courts. He communicates thoroughly and responds promptly. I was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene under very unusual circumstances. I was charged with 5 violations, totaled my SUV and nearly killed myself. After relating the story, Richard’s words were “well, the worst is over”. As time went on, that turned out to be true. He postponed my case for my personal convenience, and was able to get all except the DUI charge (including “Leaving the Scene”) dropped. Furthermore, he had jail time reduced to time served was also able to get Non-reporting (no monthly visits or fees) probation for a year; both a real blessing. He also got the 120 day license permit from DDS. His advice to take care of all requirements before the court date was extremely wise on his part. He was always available on the phone, and was able to accommodate my requests and answered my questions even though I reworded the same question a few different times in different ways. I think that I sometimes tried his patience but he never showed it. He knows the system and will do his best for you. He did for me!

Richard was able to get my charge reduced from DUI to reckless driving. That wouldn't have happened if I had chosen a cheaper lawyer or the minimum filing service. It was worth buying the full package to get the extra research and work. I live halfway across the country, so it was important to get this settled as easily as possible. Richard returned my calls and emails quickly, did all of the steps he promised, and handled it in such a way that I only had to come back one time, for the final negotiation/hearing.

A year ago i was charged with a 2nd dui. Mr. Lawson was able to get me to keep my license for over a year while all the paper work went through the court system. Anytime a had a question he answered his phone, emails, ect. He is a great guy and will fight for you like he was saving his own life. Witty, smart, intelligent, very understanding and responsive. I have not one bad thing to say about this guy. The bottom line with Mr. Lawson is that he can not work miracles, but when he represents you he will do so as if you were his own wife, daughter, son, or family. This means your best shot is with this guy. 90 percent of lawyers will lie, take your money, not give a crap about you, and not fight for you in the least. Well Mr. Lawson charges what he is due, fair, honest, and fight for his clients giving you the best chance you have compared to thousands of other scum bags who call them selves lawyers. Richard Lawson was a great attorney for me. He is knowledgeable of the DUI laws, field sobriety test, the players, what to do and when to do it. I got the DUI in a small town and very late at night. Spent the night in jail. Got out the next day retreived my car and started looking for a good attorney. He answered the phone to my suprise, we discussed the situation. He said it's not the end of the world and things would be ok if I just listen to him. I did DUI school, 40 hrs. of community service, the evaluation and then we went to court. My DUI was reduced to reckless driving, I kept my licence and paid the fine. It's not on my record witch I'm thankful for. He is worth the money for the results that I received.He explained everything, walked me through it step by step and answered any questions I had. My son was arrested recently for DUI. Whereas he failed the sobriety test in the field (not admissible), a follow-up sobriety test (admissible) was never conducted. Mr. Lawson's keen legal eye and knowledge identified this discrepancy and lack of following proper procedure and used it to convince the court to reduce the charge to reckless driving. His action saved my son's driver's license from suspension and having a DUI permanently on his record. Mr. Lawson helped me get through a very rough period in my life. I made the mistake of getting behind the wheel after having a couple of drinks. I was eventually pulled over and given a field sobriety test which I failed. I was then given a breath analysis and blew a 0.17, over twice the legal limit. I knew that I was in big legal trouble and I needed someone who would fight for my rights. I was very concerned about losing my license and possibly my job. Thats when I gave Richard a call. He walked me through the legal process and assured me that he would do everything in his power to save my license. He definately delivered getting my DUI dropped to reckless driving. I must say if you want a good lawyer I would recommend Richard. I had 4 lifetime DUI's three out of state and one in GA. With my history it looked bleek when I went to court ,I was facing 1 year in and probably wouldnt have a license for years. Richard went to work having the case moved to another court and a more understanding judge, long story short the end result was nothing I could have dreamed of. I was able to keep my license (ristricted) and 5 days in custody. I also enrolled in a DUI program and I am moving on with my life being able to keep my job and my life. The fear of the unknown can be torment.
I got handed a DUI back in February '10 and had never even had a speeding ticket that I can remember and I'm 45 yrs old. I made a mistake, used poor judgment and found myself in a holding tank for over 12 hours waiting for my bail to go through. Upon my release, the first thing I did was start looking for a lawyer. I had no idea where to start. The first name I found was Richard Lawson - so I called his office expecting to get a voice mail, secretary, or associate. To my surprise, It was Richard who answered. I told him of the situation and he immediately assured me that he would be able to help. He gave me my options regarding his services and even spoke personally with my wife to ease her mind as well. Just a short time after the call - Richard was my lawyer. This needs to be said (as you find yourself searching for a lawyer and probably in a mild case of shock as I was): If you haven't already, you will most likely be receiving solicitations from many law firms within 48 hours of your arrest. I received over 20 in two days. But I had put my trust in Richard already - so it was a non-issue - but it did make me wonder a bit if I had chosen the right lawyer. Had I gone with another attorney, I am totally convinced that my outcome would not have been the same. He worked on my case until he got what we wanted. You cannot do better than that. You cannot do better than Richard Lawson. The answer to my question, "Have I chosen right?" became evident very quickly as Richard was on top of things immediately. Personally, I am a bit impatient and want answers immediately - not knowing the system or how it works. Richard knows the system inside out and it was PROVEN on my court date and he delivered on his promise to be there every step of the way and reduce several of the penalties - he even went beyond what I had paid him to do. He made things happen that I thought were impossible - especially if you are in the Gwinnett system as I was. Side note: If Richard instructs you to do something or to simply "settle down" about your case - DO IT. He knows what he is doing and you do not need to call or email him everyday to find the status of your case. I dragged out my court date by asking him to reset the date two times - and though he urged me not to (because it would just be more stress) - he did it for me anyway. I could go on and on urging you to use Richard as your lawyer - but it is your decision. I can only tell you that Richard Lawson was the best choice I could have made and strongly believe that you would be doing a disservice by choosing another lawyer. Richard S. Lawson is the man. No doubt about it. *If you read this review Richard, I can't thank you enough. You are a man of your word and my apologies for ever doubting a word you said. I had charges while on probation and Richard still helped me out so that they would not be a violation of probation. He also made it so my 30 over speeding ticket would not result in my license being suspended. Even on a improper lane change charge, Mr. Lawson was there to help me out. I'm almost done with probation but if it wasn't for Richard I might have been put on extended probation. Thanks for not letting that happen!

I am a carreer person depending on my drivers licence to cover the three states that I am responsible for. I was looking at 30 to 60 days in jail, a year without my licence and 280 hours of community service. Richard was able to get my child endagerment charge dropped, only 40 hours of community service, 36 hours in jail and I will not loose my licence. Although this has been the toughest thing I have ever faced and I have really learned a lesson Richard was always straight with me and I always knew the worst that could happen while hoping for the best. He wont mislead you and will do the best he can for the best possible outcome.

I received my only DUI coming home from a Christmas Party last year. This was a very traumatizing experience for me and I was quite worried about the ultimate outcome. Richard's calm and assuring manner helped to ease my fears. He carefully took me through the process, keeping me informed every step of the way. Mr. Lawson stuck with my case from the moment I called him, to the very end of it all. I was constantly prepared for the worst, but each time we communicated, things seemed to get better than the day before. Mr. Lawson's ability to stay in contact with me, even with everything else he has going on, gave me sound piece of mind. Every time I had a question, he was able to give a straight forward, to the point answer; there was no beating around the bush. I am extremely thankful to him for all he has done for myself and my future. I am very happy with his services. It is a much better idea to have a lawyer who specializes in one area of the law, than a lawyer who performs decently in multiple areas. Upon getting my dui I had no Idea who to call or what to do. I had called several law offices and even friends personal lawyers. These people either tried to charge me for a consultation or did not seem very helpful or knowledgeable. When I called Mr lawsons office a little frustrated he calmed me domn and put me at ease. Mr Lawson spoke with me for an hour about my case with no charge and put no pressure on me to use him as my lawyer. During my case I have to say I was irresponsible at times but Mr Lawson kept me on track and worked with me far above and beyond what he could have and should have. Previous to hiring Mr. Lawson, I talked with at least five other attorneys (at least their receptionists). Richard spoke with me at length and explained the details of what to expect. I had him hire an investigator as well who really helped my situation. Richard delivered on his promises to have this DUI (my first & trust me my only one ever!) to be reviewed with the prosecutor and work out a fair agreement. Richard patiently explained my situation and was always back to me within a short time when I called him for advice. I called Richard Lawson on Memorial Day weekend late Friday afternoon. I needed an attorney immediately. He walked me through the process of representation and was hired the next afternoon. I hired Mr. Lawson when I got a DUI. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. He explained everything to me in detail and told me what to expect. I was afraid, since I have never been in the courts before. I knew I was in good hands. He knew exactly what to do, and this helped take some of the worry away while going through this scary process. He always answered my questions, and returned my phone calls promptly when I needed to talk to him. I had a lot to lose if I got a DUI on my record and my nerves were shattered. I knew there were no guarantees as to how my case would turn out, and Mr. Lawson told me that everything that he could legally do for me, would be done. Mr. Lawson was prepared to take my case to trial, and we were ready to go trial. Just before the trial day came, Mr. Lawson convinced the prosecutor to reduce my DUI charge to reckless driving.
