I am dedicated to the concept of helping couples divorce with a minimum of conflict by resolving their differences as quickly as possible and filing for an uncontested divorce. This is by far the least costly way of securing a divorce. The normal legal fees that are incurred in a divorce can be thousands of dollars. For many couples this money would be better spent on moving on with their lives, and if there are children involved, using scrace funds for the children's welfare.
We belive in mediation and collaborative divorce as an appraoch to resolving marital conflicts. When each party retains invidividual counsel, often we find that we have four parties who are not communicating rather than two.
There are situations where it is necessary for each party to be represented by counsel in a divorce. These situations include among others: 1) when one party has been physically abusive to another; 2) when one party just won't cooperate; 3) when one party is hiding assets from another; 4) when it is difficult to value the assets owned by the parties; and other special circumstances where one party, usually the wife, needs the advoacy and protection of legal counsel.
Richard S Granat is an experienced attorney whose participation and comments in Avvo show his commitment to serving clients as well as his level of experience. He is an excellent attorney that I recommend wholeheartedly.
