Description:Hard of hearing citizens in Washington, DC filed a class action case under the Americans with Disabilites Act against national movie theater chains seeking closed captioning of movies. After years of litigation, the case was settled with the movie chains agreeing to provide more closed captioning of movies than any other city in the U.S. at the time. The case was discussed in the Harvard Law Review and led to cases by various state Attorneys General, seeking similar justice.
