About Me

Those who know me well consider me to be a hard working and creative attorney. After practicing of law for nearly 25 years in big firms, I opened my own practice in 2009.

My clients range from large international and national corporations to small and medium-size closely held companies, innovative start-ups, software developers, Internet-based companies, medical institutions, universities and individual artists, photographers, musicians and inventors.

My practice covers all phases of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition law, including prosecution, licensing and litigation as well as software licensing, emerging new media issues and electronic commerce.

I've successfully prosecuted patent applications for a variety of clients in the chemical and mechanical arts including food processing technologies, industrial packaging and labeling, plastic bottle manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, toys, environmental monitoring equipment, telecommunications networks and RFID tracking systems.

In addition to preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, I have initiated and defended numerous trademark oppositions, cancellations and ICANN UDRP domain name disputes as well as trademark infringement, unfair competition, patent infringement and copyright infringement actions in state courts, federal district courts and before the International Trade Commission.  Roughly a third of my practice is trademark clearance, prosecution, UDRP domain name dispute resolution and litigation.  I am also an active committee member of the INTA emerging issues subcommittee.

From 1991 to 1996 I was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law in Camden, New Jersey. I've lectured in Russia to Russian entrepreneurs in the practicalities of conducting business with western counterparts, to visiting delegations of businessmen, lawyers and government officials from several provinces in China and to a delegation from The Chinese Government Central Committee.

In 2005 I was a participant in a panel presentation before a group of international lawyers in Prague, Czech Republic where I discussed the legal and regulatory hurdles facing biosimilars in the generic drug industry in the United States. Also in 2005, I gave a presentation to the Global Interdependence Council at the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia entitled "The Changing Face of Intellectual Property Rights in China" and in 2007, I participated in a meeting of international lawyers in Beijing China which the focused on the growing recognition of IPR in that country.

I am AV rated by my peers in Martindale-Hubble, the highest rating in the legal profession.
