How much does a probate attorney charge to prepare and file a PA Inheritance Tax form?
I am an Executor for my sister’s estate. She is leaving everything to her 2 adult children.
As my colleagues have also answered the Inheritance Tax return is frequently if not usually prepared as part of the probate services the estate attorney provides. So, check with the attorney representing the estate. If you do not have one I strongly urge you to get one because the probate process has a number of procedures and deadlines to be aware of. If deadlines are missed or procedures are not followed you as Executor could be held personally responsible by the estate Beneficiaries. So, use the Find a Lawyer feature here on Avvo.com or contact your county bar association for a referral.

As Rochelle said, it is probably smarter/more effeciient to hire an attorney to assist with the estate administration / probate process from start to finish. For example the attorney would have all transactions entered into the accounting system software we use and we can use that to prepare all documents, including the inheritance tax return and a formal or informal account to be approved by beneficiaries. Fees for estate administration can very greatly depending on the size and complexity of the matter. This is literally what I and my colleagues in the legal community do all day - go to an expert!
I am very sorry for your loss. We are not permitted to discuss fees on this part of the website. We are only here to answer basic legal questions. To find out a specific attorney's fees, you will need to contact them directly and privately and ask them. Please note that, while it is possible to retain an attorney just for purposes of the PA inheritance tax return, that is rarely done. By the time someone learns all about the estate in order to prepare the return, they might as well finish up the rest of the estate documents and filings for you. I hope this helps.
I have a private practice with offices in Malvern, PA, however I can provide most of my services virtually. Nothing I have stated should be construed as legal advice. My answer is merely informational based on my experience. I am not your attorney unless you and I sign a representation agreement.
