I haven’t had much experience with attorneys and I never thought I would need one when someone very precious to me was falsely accused of child neglect and under investigation from Chrildren’s protective services or CPS. To say my world was rattled is putting it mildly. I was almost physically ill wi...th grief and worry and scrambling around the internet to seek guidance and help as my friend did not have much money to defend herself against these horrible allegations. Somehow I ran into the website for the Mark C. Cogan firm and left a message to inquire about their rates or have an initial consult. Attorney Zach Winston returned my call and invited me to tell him about the situation. He patiently listened and asked several questions and immediately calmed my fears. He gave me the name of an attorney outside their practice who he felt would be more suitable for us as their practice did not usually handle cases of the exact nature we were involved with-- but also said if we ended up not hiring anyone and would be fighting this alone to call him back the next day and he would help us more. After speaking with the other attorney, my friend decided it would not be within her budget to hire help after all. The next day I called Zach back to thank him and he proceeded to tell me what to expect in the meetings with CPS and how best to get through it. His advice was right on!! My friend had her meeting today and I credit her positive outcome with Zach’s excellent advice! I just can’t thank him enough for talking to me for free not once but twice and never taking a penny for it. Talking to Zach was like talking to a dear family member that really listens and cares about what happens to you. Who does that anymore for a complete stranger? Making this call gave me true hope in the world that good people do exist and with the right person on your side, justice will prevail. I will be eternally grateful to Zach Winston for this act of kindness that is so appreciated my myself and my friend.
