Lynn Marie O'Brien

Lynn O'Brien began working in the field of immigration in 1997 prior to attending law school.  Her first professional job in the immigration field was with McNary, Morris, & Smalley.  Mr. Gene McNary was the former commissioner of the Immigration & Naturalization Service. He was appointed to that position by President George H.W. Bush.   After law school, Ms. O'Brien worked at a boutique immigration law firm in Washington, DC  representing multinational corporations.  She also began to author publications on the use of E-Verify.  (NOTE:  E-Verify may become mandatory for every company with the passage of comprehensive immigration reform).  Ms. O'Brien also founded the Immigration Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and served as its first Chair.  Ms. O'Brien left her position at that DC immigration law firm to take a position working on a project at USCIS (the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services).  In this position, she worked closely with USCIS adjudicators and leadership, including representatives of most directorates within UCSIS.   Formerly, Lynn was a partner at the law firm of Orner & O'Brien, LLC located just outside of Washington, DC, where she handled business immigration matters as well as family based green card and nautralization cases.  Currently, Lynn is an attorney with Berry Appleman & Leiden in McLean, Virginia.
