Troy D. Ward

Troy Ward, J.D., is a highly experienced trial attorney who has found success in tort claims investigation, civil rights cases, and complex criminal trials alike. He is focused on client relationships, and he holds himself to the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.

Mr. Ward previously worked as a Trial Attorney for the 13th Judicial District Attorney in New Mexico. During his time as a Trial Attorney, he prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases. In those cases, he argued motions, conducted pretrial conferences, worked with victims of crimes, and went to trial at the Magistrate and District Court levels. Mr. Ward has performed 11 bench trials and 3 jury trials. His rolling caseload consisted of approximately 175 cases, most of which involved procedures for DWI and Domestic Violence. Mr. Ward has a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of federal and state laws encompassing tribal interests.

Additionally, Mr. Ward is an enrolled member by the blood of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Mr. Ward’s experience in Indian Country includes working with Jemez Pueblo on Business Leasing and Solar Farm development, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on Environmental issues raised by the Dakota Access Pipeline, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma on elder health issues, Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Idaho on reservation boundary disputes with the Secretary of Interior, Zuni Pueblo on economic development, and the Pueblo of Laguna on various legislative and fiscal matters.

Mr. Ward is a veteran of the armed services and a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law. He attained a Juris Doctor with a focus in Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law. He is admitted to practice in the State of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Outside of his professional work, Mr. Ward loves playing classical guitar, building and restoring classic Chevy Corvairs, and hiking all over the gorgeous state of New Mexico.
