We no longer participate in this site.  We have made this decision for three reasons --

1. We believe the ratings are deceptive and easily manipulated, and that they bear no relationship to the quality of the attorney.  For example, before deleting the personal information from the profile, my rating was 10/10.  Suddenly, with no information, the same lawyer is rated lower.  By adding certain types of information to the profiles, an attorney can easily manipulate the ratings and learn how to give themselves a “10".  I have also been approached by attorneys I never met offering to “trade” positive reviews, which boost ratings.  DO NOT rely on the ratings on this site.

2. The site has monetized itself in what I feel is a deceptive manner.  You will note numerous advertisements for inexpensive legal services, sometimes appearing as if they are the rates of the attorney that you are looking at.  I did not knowingly agree to serve as an advertising medium for this site or their economic partners.

3. The other lawyers who are advertised on the profiles of lawyers you visit have paid this site for that advertising, and also to ensure that similar advertising, or advertising of cut-rate legal services do not appear on their sites.

The best way to find a quality lawyer is through word-of-mouth referral – by talking to people who have used a lawyer for the same reason you need one.  If that is not possible, contact your county bar association for a referral and interview two or three lawyers over the phone first.
