Thomas Peter Cossitt

Tom has represented me on several different legal actions and I have been very pleased with each of the outcomes. In my opinion, he has a knack for hearing what you are saying and taking the unproductive emotion out to make a realistic, appropriate plan. Tom is a thorough and caring person who keeps the best interests of the children top priority. I recommend Tom for all your legal actions.

Tom and his team helped me with multiple cases over a couple years. First we addressed child support, and later a case to get my daughter out of a potentially dangerous situation with haste. From the initial consultation, to checking in a month after the cases ended, he kept me informed of all options available and acted only when asked. I was really impressed with the manner in which he conducted himself in front of the judge. It has been my experience with previous representation that they talk a mean game plan, and choke in the court room. Tom nailed both of my cases, even when the state brought representation against me, he still got the judge to rule in my favor. My last case was a very sensitive situation that required subtlety and discretion over the course of almost a year. In the end, he and his team, got my child support addressed, and my daughter out of harms way with the least amount of collateral damage possible. As a father in Colorado, the chances of gaining any ground in a custody battle for split households is few and far between. I am certain that the difference maker in my case was Tom and the Harris Law Firm. Thanks again Tom!

Mr. Cossitt managed and resolved several post divorce actions on my behalf. These included financial obligations, visitation matters and disregard of court orders. He understood my position, evaluated the facts, advised me and performed beyond my expectations. He protected me, my son and resolved my problems quickly and professionally. If there are ever any other legal matters that I need resolved I will be using Mr. Cossitt and would give him the best referral to my closest friends and family.

The best thing that happened to me when I was using this law firm was when they fired me as a client. The mistakes this place makes are unbelievable. Wrong names of my kids, not holding a deadline, not holding the opposing party accountable, legal knowledge all very sub standard IMPO. Run from this law firm. All they will do is suck up your money and do very little for it. Of the few reviews you have one is a lawyer that works for you. Lol wow

I hired Tom Cossitt to represent me in a custody case. For the first 2 weeks he called me by the wrong name and put the wrong name on legal papers sent to my ex-husband's attorney. He asked me to work on very "important" documents then he wouldn't get back to me because he was busy with other clients and missed deadlines with the court... then he would say well they weren't that important anyway. He told me to say mostly positive things about my ex-husband to the Child Family Investigator so I didn't look like the crazy, bitter ex-wife and wanted to re-write (and did) what I wrote to the CFI to make it all sound positive. My new attorney said it made it sound like my ex was a great father - he was NOT! I felt like Tom Cossitt was fighting me the whole way, never once did I feel like he was on my side fighting for me. It was absolutely awful. At a time when I needed support and someone to fight for me I spent time, money and my energy fighting my attorney. I spent $7,500 and got NOTHING for it. I was actually worse off when I left to find a new attorney than when I started with Tom Cossitt. Then I needed to spend more money to get a new attorney up to speed. Tom Cossitt kept pushing for a hearing and did nothing to try to resolve things out of court. My new attorney settled things out of court getting me almost everything I asked for within a couple of months, she fought for me, with me and I felt like someone had my back. I would not recommend Tom Cossitt to anyone, ever.

I experienced the same as one of the other reviews. Mr Cossitt has no courtroom presents. He is nervous and showed no confidence. He was not organized with the facts. He was destroyed in the courtroom by the respondent that represented themselves and had no more than a high school education. When I had the consultation with Cossitt he was confident that there would be a better out come than what I was facing prior to court. I left the courtroom after he was schooled by the non-attorney worse than I ever thought. After this Mr. Cossitt ABANDON me with court still pending. He cut his loses and left me to finish the case. He would not take my phone calls and charged me over $16,000. He did nothing for me. This shows he has no care for his clients. His staff is constantly after you about payment after he says he will work with you. Mr. Cossitt charges more than most attorneys. He rarely called when he said he would. He was always behind and not prepared. He would ask for information the night before the information was due or before court. He would charge for calls from his staff stating he would call at a certain time and then never call. I am retired from law enforcement and have been in the courtroom many times both for civil and criminal cases. I haven't seen worse. Based on my case I can not and would not recommend Tom Cossitt. Save your money and time, find a competent attorney that cares about you and won't abandon you.
