Ted D. Billbe

I hired Ted to help me with enforcement of some of the terms of my separation agreement a couple of years after I obtained my divorce. Our initial meeting was a consultation where he gave me steps I could try to take myself to move things forward with minimal cost. I later hired him to move a difficu...lt process forward to conclusion. I felt that Ted was sensitive to my situation, both my financial position and my ability to contribute to the process and provide input. In this way he helped me keep costs down and adapted to the approach I was comfortable with based on the options he laid out. Ted doesn't mess around or waste time, he is quick to act. When we decided what to do at each stage he did not delay, he did so immediately. For example when I was meeting with him in his office and we decided to communicate something to the other party's lawyer, he did so right at that moment, concisely and effectively. He was so attentive that he would often see and reply to emails from the other party's lawyer before I had even seen the original email arrive, whether in or out of office hours. Ted also ensured I was in the loop on every communication that happened. Ted has experience in using the arbitration process (as required in my settlement) and made the appropriate filings and submissions with the information needed to ensure a ruling in my favor, as well as exhibiting intimate knowledge of law and procedure (for example, indicating why respondent's claim of incorrect serving of papers was an invalid claim). Ted clearly works very hard and with dedication and I hope he schedules in some good vacation time to recharge. He is obviously doing a job he believes in and is passionate about because you don't reach the level of knowledge, skill and compassion he has if you just phone it in. I think he has great problem-solving skills - seeing a situation, understanding the motivations and likely behaviors of those involved, and using his legal tools and knowledge to devise a solution. My only regret is that I didn't know Ted when originally negotiating my divorce, because I believe his help would have ensured I didn't have the problems I did further down the line.

The intitial phone conversation with his partner/wife Sheila made me feel that this was someone I could trust to look out for my better interests and that my divorce would be just as important as any other he was handling. There was absolutely no pressure to sign with him at my initial consultation. In fact, he encouraged me to consider all we'd talked about, seek out the advice of at least one other attorney and call him back with my decision. Throughout the process, he was attentive to my needs, handled all the complications that occurred, and was immediately available and involved with even the most minute details of the divorce. If something was important to me, it was important to him. I could not be more pleased with the results of his handling of my case, and would highly recommend him to anyone going through the difficulties of the divorce experience. Ted was absolutely wonderful.

A divorce attorney is a professional I never expected to hire. Aside from the personal trauma, I was daunted by the huge roster of attorneys working in the area. Ted was referred by a client of a friend; the client reported that Ted worked the case in her favor and that the outcome was much better th...an she had hoped. After a consultation with Ted, I was surprised that he recommended contacting at least one other attorney, that I educate my self about the process, and evaluate whether I felt that he was a good fit for my case. I took his advice, and in the end, hired him over the other attorneys I had contacted. It was a great choice! His thorough knowledge of the process and ability to navigate roadblocks are impressive. Our case involved a good deal of foot-dragging from the other end, and Ted made intelligent calls regarding when to wait and when to act. He was responsive to my questions and preferences, and made adjustments to his approach based on my opinion. But he also was careful to make sure I understood the cause and effect of decisions we made. The team working in the office is phenomenal; they are efficient, personable, responsive, and always very supportive. You wouldn’t call the process “pleasant,” but I’m certain that hiring a competent attorney reduced the stress and made the journey easier.

Through my personal long divorce ordeal, Ted was there for me in every way. He was brilliant in every aspect of settleing my case, including the financial outcome.
