Sarah Bethel Hechtman

I retained Sarah to represent me in an uncontested divorce and property settlement in New York. I am a no longer practicing lawyer so am by definition a difficult client with definite opinions about how to do things and an excess of “better ideas”, not to mention no end of questions. Despite that, I ...had little to no knowledge or experience with NY domestic relations law or practice. Sarah exceeded my most optimistic hopes, and far exceeded my expectations. Technically, she is well versed. As a client manager, she is empathetic, but doesn’t sugar coat potential outcomes or responses to questions or my many “better ideas”. She is a sunny realist. As with even the most uncontested divorce, there are emotions involved, and Sarah managed mine in a mature and, again, empathetic, fashion. I never doubted that she was my uncompromising advocate, but I also knew that she was focused on getting me to an outcome that was reasonable, fair, and economically efficient. I would hire her again (though I hope I don’t need to) and would recommend her without qualification.

After many years in family court because of a very high conflict divorce, my ex was taking me back for the 3rd time in a 1 year period for full custody. This go around I was armed with a lot more information about what my ex was actually doing, and I knew I needed an attorney that understood as well.... At the concussion of my consultation I knew it was Sarah. FINALLY, someone is "hearing" me, she knew before I could say it "You NEED someone to fight for your boys". I signed the retainer agreement before I left the office. Sarah has not once failed me since. She has been very diligent in finding me the best 3rd party professional who have also heard me. Which makes all the difference in the world when dealing with high conflict. Sarah has been nothing less then professional, and extremely supportive of me. She actually cares about her clients!!! I definitely could not have gone through this without her and I am so glad I do not have to. I am blessed to have found Sarah!!
