My purpose in going to law school was to help people. That has been at the core of every decision I have made since enrolling. Following this principle has given me a broad range of experiences.
While in law school, my internships with the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, Triage Cancer, and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.
When financial needs required me to leave the nonprofit world after graduating, the desire to help people has driven every decision I have made. This has led me to practicing in a variety of fields while working with many types of clients. I have practiced in accessibility law, bankruptcy law, corporate law, zoning law, eviction law, education law, family law, and alcohol licensing law. Over the years, I developed a particular focus on employment law, working on small individual cases all the way to large class actions. I have worked with minimum wage workers struggling to put food on the table, company executives, and everywhere in between. I have worked in specialized areas like military proceedings and public school employees. I have even worked with small businesses to prepare their employee policies and to fight against exploitative and frivolous lawsuits. I have worked within a variety of fee structures to meet client needs. My wide-ranging experience has given me the versatility to help serve any client needs—to help people how they need to be helped.
By seeing the law through so many different lenses, I have been frustrated by how often firms tell clients their needs instead of listening to their needs. I’ve been frustrated by how frequently clients do not understand how their case has been handled. But most of all, I’ve been frustrated by the amount of people with legitimate claims that still don’t have access to the help of the law.
It am an attorney who adapts to each client’s circumstances and needs. I am dedicated to finding ways to give people access to legal help. I am transparent with clients and help them understand what is being done in their name.
