Joshua J. Horowitz

Mr. Horowitz has been developing his technical knowledge and expertise over the course of a lifetime. From the age of 4 when he sat down at his first Windows 3.1 machine with 4MB of RAM, his primary focus was always understanding how the computer worked and how it could be tweaked to be made better. Asking these questions over the course of a lifetime has resulted in a deep-rooted technical understanding of a variety of platforms and technologies. After law school, Mr. Horowitz founded his practice to provide passionate representation to clients with legal matters involving technology. He has experience counseling clients in a broad variety of legal matters including both federal and state litigation. Mr. Horowitz served as technology counsel in the Silk Road case, (United States v. Ulbricht) in the Southern District of New York in which he submitted an 18-page declaration undermining technical assertions made by the FBI. His work received worldwide recognition in Forbes, Wired, TechCrunch, Ars Technica and other publications, establishing him as a top technology litigator. Mr. Horowitz is also experienced counseling clients in state-agency investigations involving technology and computer software. He has also provided legal counsel to technology start-ups on matters involving data privacy, copyrights, and trademarks. While in law school, Mr. Horowitz worked at the Software Freedom Law Center, an organization providing legal counsel to Free and Open Source (FOSS) software developers in a broad variety of legal matters.
