Better Salesman than Client Lawyer

I should have been warned off when he made me wait 30 minutes for our initial consultation. He was so warm and apologetic, promising it wouldn't happen again, that I hired him. His pedigree is excellent, and he has won some high-profile cases. He is completely overwhelmed and distracted, however. ... He never followed through on what he promised. The fact that he "keeps his own schedule," as his assistant says, is a huge problem. I could never get a call or meeting with him without getting him on the phone. When I did get him on the phone, he would explain that he had an "emergent" motion and couldn't talk. And this is just to schedule a meeting with him. A variation of this happened at least 3 times, and five calls later, we finally had a date on the calendar two weeks out. If he is so smart, I'm not sure why he puts himself through so many contact moments with his clients just to get a piece of business done. Plus, he talked about himself and his other cases endlessly during meetings, billing me for the time the whole way, until I cut him off and made him focus on my case. Maybe an aggressive and nasty client would have success getting his attention. Anyone courteous or nice should stay away.
