Don't hire! Look for quality and experience elsewhere.

I went through a very simple and amicable divorce and hired Leah J. duCharme and her associate to handle the divorce proceedings. Unfortunately, the service and quality of work was way below any professional standards I would recommend. There were typos on documents, emails from me they didn't revi...ew or missed details on, clerical errors were made in the court by court staff. When I asked them to check int it, I received a very terse response "this isn't something we normally do". Her demeanor was unpleasant to deal with when they already had the information or when I asked them to wait on receiving information because my ex-husband was out on medical leave from with an injury and his physical therapy and recovery were the top priority for us. During the time, I received numerous almost harassing phone calls for him to file a QDRO form he couldn't physically fill out and wasn't at his employer to request. Only because they wished to close the case on their end. There was also numerous billing issues with their staff. I can not speak directly to her competency to litigate a divorce in court or deal with an opposing attorney. It was never needed in my case, which makes it even more appalling when simple things were so unprofessionally handled. You can search her court records, look up cases she has appealed and at what level and the court's rulings. Quite frankly, there wasn't many. It may indicate a lack of experience at handling more difficult family law case because she hasn't been in practice that long or the fact that North Dakota family law isn't overwhelming complex compared to other areas of practice. Regardless, my case was handled with incompetence. To summarize Leah duCharme gave my case a subpar performance and effort, in contrast to experiences, I have had with other law firms in Fago dealing with personal estates, wills and business practices. There are better family practice firms and attorneys in Fargo. I can not recommend her service to anyone.

Leah is great!

Deciding to divorce isn’t easy and Leah really listened and was very sensitive to the fact that my ex and I wanted to try and do this amicably. Yet she knew that I need to listen to her as well, that was why I hired her. I can’t imagine working with anyone else. She is very knowledgeable, helpful ...and friendly. Everyone at the office was.

Exceptional Divorce Attorney

Leah is a very dependable, honest, and kind attorney. Her knowledge about the law and your individual rights is outstanding. I would recommend her to anybody in need of an attorney regarding divorce proceedings. Leah and her staff at Gjestdahl Law provided exceptional legal services to me in my ti...me of need, it was in no doubt money well spent. She even continues to take the time to talk to me about problems I am facing two years after my divorce. You will not be disappointed with legal services provided by Gjestdahl Law.
