Since opening his own firm in 2003, Scott Toussaint has been passionate about helping people navigate the often complex world of family law. His team works hard to help clients when they find themselves in divorce or family court. Scott’s 19 years of practice have given him the experience to help people understand the legal process, navigate through it, and position themselves to move into the next phase of their lives.
Scott Toussaint was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer, where he graduated from Airborne and Ranger school and led a light infantry rifle platoon for three years. In 1993, Scott earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Since then, Scott has gained valuable and diverse experience through his involvement in many legal and community organizations, including working as Clerk for a Circuit Court Judge, which taught him many of the inner workings of the court system.
In addition to being a member of the Oconee County and South Carolina Bar Associations, Scott recently completed his appointment to the Ethics Advisory Board for the South Carolina Bar Association. Scott is also heavily involved in the Oconee County community. He has served as a board member of: the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce; Leadership Oconee; Mountain Lakes Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Oconee Heritage Center. He is currently a board member for the Oconee County Friends of Guardian ad Litem. He also currently serves as a Military Judge in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
Scott lives in Walhalla, SC, with his wife and two young children. His firm is based in Seneca, SC, and serves the needs of clients throughout the state of South Carolina, but especially in Oconee, Pickens, Anderson and Greenville counties.
About the Toussaint Law Firm
Prepare, prepare, prepare—that is the firm’s motto. We do our best to prepare a client’s case and sort through complex matters by creating timelines, strategy plans, alimony projections, child support calculations, property debt worksheets, and more. This approach also allows us to clearly communicate to clients about their situations, ensuring that everyone involved understands every client meeting, mediation, settlement discussion and court ruling. We research medical and criminal records to certify each client’s case, and work to provide innovative approaches that may resolve the situation instead of court.
The Toussaint Law Firm stresses teamwork: we provide a team approach to help in divorce or family law issues. A team of an attorney and a paralegal works together with every client, ensuring you always have someone you can call at any time. This team approach improves communication and reduces cost to our clients. If you ever need information, please do not hesitate to call.
Additionally, we work closely with an extensive network of experts and legal support professionals to provide access to resources that best protect our clients’ interests. Some of the professionals we use include: certified public accountants; business valuation experts; forensic computer specialists; real estate appraisers; licensed private detectives; psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, custody evaluators and physicians; court reporters; process servers; guardians ad litem; and technology experts. We arrange the experts to best meet the needs of each individual case.
Whether you are entering a difficult divorce, struggling with custody issues, looking forward to an adoption or planning for the future of your children, Scott Toussaint and his team will support you throughout the process and help you move into the next chapter of your life.

"I endorse this lawyer. I have had the pleasure of knowing K. Scott Toussaint both professionally and personally for numerous years. He is a tremendous asset to his profession, his community, and his country. I have been in court with Scott as opposing counsel and as counsel for our respective clients with common causes. His preparedness for court and knowledge of the law make him a superior advocate for his clients. Scott’s desire to provide his clients the best possible representation is also characteristic of his entire office staff. Even though Scott’s commitment to his clients is tireless and never ending, he dedicates time to various community causes and also serves as a Judge Advocate General in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Last but not least, Scott is committed to his family as loving husband, father, son, and brother. Scott’s sincerity and dedication make him one of the shining stars in his profession, community, country, and family."
