Nice but disorganized

Attorney Fancher is nice but is very disorganized which caused my case to take almost 2 years to be finalized. I ended up terminating our agreement to work with another lawyer. The new lawyer took less than 1 month to finalized my case. Examples of disorganization: 1. I've never received a month...ly billing statement until my new lawyer sent him a substitution form to terminate our lawyer-client relationship. 2. I asked him to send me a billing statement. He said he would, but never did. 3. It is a common pattern in him promising in email and text that he will take an action immediately or the next day, but never followed up. I have to chase after him multiple times to get a task completed or get a question answered. 4. he did not provide concrete strategies on how to proceed with the case when my counter-party was stalling. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the only thing he's done is to offer motivational words like a supportive friend, instead of providing actionable advice on what I can do to resolve the stagnation. 5. Similar to 3, Fancher didn't answer some emails I sent to him regarding progress and timeline. 6. Fancher was often late on completing paperwork and failed to provide a clear estimation of when paperwork would be completed. I still believe that Attorney Fancher is a nice lawyer and has a good intention. Unfortunately, his working style and lack of relevant legal experience aren't a good fit for my case. Throughout my experience working with Attorney Fancher and interviewing 6 other family attorneys, I learned that a good lawyer should possess the following qualities: 1. ability to respond to a client's email within 24 hours. 2. provide a clear timeline that includes all the steps and how many days it'll take for each step. 3. ability to provide a clear strategy based on client needs. Acts as a thought partner or advisor as clients are communicating with their counter-party. 4. ability to explain the legal process in simple terms to help clients understand. 5. ability to provide a clear estimation of hours based on clients' cases and situations if the cases are simple. 6. ability to prepare all necessary paperwork within 2 days and communicate to clients on when they can expect to receive relevant paperwork. 7. proactive communication. A good lawyer would *follow up* with his/her clients himself/ herself to move the case forward, not the other way around. Unfortunately, Attorney Fancher did not meet all 7 of the qualities above and has a lot to work on before I'd feel comfortable recommending him to other people.

The communication is horrible, phone calls never answered. He made a huge mistake of not serving the opposition, with that I had to wait 3 more months, even though I provided him with all proofs against the other side he never filed anything about it, I asked so many times for things to be a-dressed ...and nothing. I paid for someone to be on my side and I was left to drown.

Months later, service still not provides, Jeremy not responding to emails

I've hired Jeremy for a simple case. He estimated we could be done in less than 3 months. Over 9 months later, he only managed to submit the wrong documents to the court and the case is still not solved. He's not responding to my attempts to contact him.

divorce case

Had a messy divorce with kids and a small business. Jeremy was really easy to work with and explained the entire process to me. He was also awesome in court and thank god because I could not have spoken for myself. I felt like Jeremy protected me and my family, but I didn't come away from the cas...e with huge attorney's fees. He genuinely wanted me to resolve the divorce as best I could without needing to fight in court for years!

Wort experience of my life. Takes advantage for $$, does nothing.

I found him through a site that matched me with him , only later did i test the site only to find he pops up as the match for anyone/ anything so long as youre in the bay area. At the time I saw that his name came up for areas of law unrelated to custody court/guardianship case...i guess if the money...'s right, he'll play the part ..the problem I have is that he lacks the experience and/or wont do the work. Both IMO. I apologize for the length in advance. Not only is he unprofessional (he messaged me on facebook messenger (which I never gave him the info for) telling me i looked like a "young angelina jolie" which obviously isn't bad in and of itself, but what attorney says that to a client!?? way to make a woman feel uncomfortable.) He also said things like "I'll never waste your time by filing papers that you are capable of filling out..I'll only charge you for the work i do and i have an online system where you can log in & see all the work that I've done." He also said he has handled a case like mine, but I should've pressed him for more info. I just didnt because he seemed like a trustworthy person. Obviously I have paid the price for that mistake. Needless to say I never saw that online system & he later (after asking him what work he did) complained about me filing papers. Unless you want to have to hire a lawyer for a lawyer, steer clear of this snake. 1.False Promises- After personally contacting a private investigator to potentially help me , the PI told me that i must not have an attorney with any experience because if he knew anything, he'd know that no one would give me what I was asking for due to the way the laws are set up. I got worried & called him- he reassured me the info i was given was wrong. Turns out (after i asked a judge for more info) the PI was right. 2. Poor or No Records -Will provide you with a bill but zero explanation for what he did. I have asked numerous times & to this day have not seen his explanation of what he did. Other than him texting me back with the demeanor of a supportive friend....& hopefully reading the case files I had already filed when I hired him (we never discussed them so maybe he didnt), the only other time I can think of that involved his time was a 5-10min time frame where I asked him to be available in case theyd let him appear in court for me by phone. Within a couple minutes i communicated to him it was a no go. 3. I never met him - He was in SF I was in Santa Cruz. Only once (& after the weird fb msg) did he say he was in my area due to a case & texted me asking if i wanted to do lunch. It was not planned , also his text was super casual & a little off putting, so i chose not to go. meeting was not incredibly important to me, but be aware if u are out of county 4. He never appeared for me, & never filed anything on my behalf. He would answer my questions via text, but one question I asked was if what the PI said was true, & he gave me the wrong answer. I am pretty sure he just didnt know the answer, because the way the law is written makes you think its a possibility. Two judges have since told me that its not- and that no judge in CA would allow it. 5. His rate is 250-300 hourly, my detainer was 2500 and I believe i got 1000 back. Given that our interactions were comprised of only texts and a couple 5 min calls (not including the hour long consult, which was free) wheres the $1500 of work?I asked him, & to this day hes never told me or bothered to send any explanation. All I have is the receipt, which basically states 2500 - 1500 = 1000. After asking several times to explain what he did, he told me if I continued to bother him he would take legal action. If its not obvious already, we never made it to the courtroom for the hearing he was hired for. Thats why I asked him for the partial refund and when i saw the situation for what it was. Suffice to say that was pretty disheartening,i cried my eyes out.... please dont let that be you.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"Jeremy Fancher was my opposing counsel in a wrongful termination case in federal court. The case was a lot of work for both sides, with multiple filings, depositions, document productions, and discovery disputes. I found Jeremy to be an effective advocate for his clients in every way. There is a steady supply of smart and hardworking attorneys in California. Those who are also thoughtful, creative, strategic, and genuine, are much harder to find, but if you are reading this review then I think you have found one: Jeremy."
