Searching for a divorce attorney can be a very daunting task to say the least. I hope in writing this review, it will help others in my situation to find just the right professional to help them. Like a lot of people, I was blindsided when my husband of almost 22 yrs declared he wanted a divorce, p...lain and simple, he wanted out. I had, as a lot do, completely relied on him for everything, nearly all aspects of our life together. I needed the best atty I could find. Having several friends in the legal arena, Atty Deborah Grover came highly recommended. Finding Atty Grover was a life changing moment. From our first meeting, I felt completely comfortable and at ease. Atty Grover was compassionate, understanding and very helpful in helping me to deal with something that was very new and very emotional for me. Like many who are trying to find an attorney, asking opinions from people is tough, because everyone has an opinion. Referrals and opinions of Atty Grover were all outstanding. I can say from the bottom of my heart that having Deb represent me was the best decision I've ever made. She was not only my attorney, but soon became a friend I could trust. Deb is extremely professional, very well respected by not only her peers, but by the courts as well. She was always prepared, but more importantly made sure I was always prepared, as I knew nothing about the divorce process. Atty Grover fought aggressively to protect the assets that my husband and I had created during the marriage and made sure those rights were presented to the court in a fair and equitable manor, helping to make sure I would get what I was entitled to. Atty Grover also fought very hard to make sure that the expenses my husband was court ordered to pay were indeed always taken care of, and if not, than the proper actions were taken. She and her staff always kept me well informed, Deb sometimes answering me on the weekends. Deb's staff was and is beyond reproach, helping to explain every little detail to me throughout the process. If you are in the need of a professional, personally engaging, and very well respected attorney, then Attorney Grover is the attorney for you. I wholeheartedly recommend Deb. This is a life changing time in your life, (Deb told me this as well, and she was so right). You need the best of the best and Attorney Grover is the best and will not disappoint. I walked into Deb's office 13 years ago a totally frightened mess. I couldn't see how financially I could afford a divorce, I had no idea how to deal with my husband and I couldn't see a future for myself. Deb showed me a way out. She is the consummate professional, she never wastes your time (and m...oney), she is always prepared--all while being warm and funny and kind! She even won my ex-husband trust! Last year, 10 years after my divorce, I had to call on her again when my ex-husband stopped paying alimony. And again she was kind, and warm and professional, knowledgeable -- and she won! I approached Attorney Grover for what I imagined was going to be an uncontested divorce with a child(ern) custody agreement, my Ex had verbally agreed. Attorney Grover went over the procedures. She explained how the family court system worked, what the court would be looking for, some of the probab...le scenarios and most of my options. She told me what records I needed to compile and things I needed to write down and/or document. She also had ball park figures for what it could cost for the different scenarios. Things did not go as I had hoped, the Ex filed a Cross Complaint, contested the custody of the kids, went after the house, asked for alimony and for a multitude of other nefarious things. We ended up doing a Child Custody case prior to the divorce. Attorney Grover handled the motions, request for information, affidavits, files & clarifications and court scheduling. She provided guidance and advice concerning Family Services and then the Special Masters. Child custody was settled at a Special Masters and four months later the divorce was finalized. I ended up with primary custody of both my children, retained our house and have no alimony payments. I believe that I am an exception in the state of Connecticut, not the rule and that normally the courts tend to side with the wife/mother. Attorney Grover knows the laws, rules, regulations and procedures. She kept me informed about most of the motions/procedures. She was capable of explaining things in laymen terms. Her staff is exceedingly competent and professional. I highly recommend her.
