Austin Vandeveer

I worked with Austin and one his partners at the Jeffery Leving Law Firm in Chicago. Austin and his colleagues were extremely understanding of my situation and equally as importantly, the IL Family Law. This gave me a lot of confidence at a time when I really needed it -- to be able to negotiate from a position of understanding, rather than fear. My name is Jaime and on July 1, 2016 my boyfriend/not husband came into my home and without my permission and knowledge, took my baby(son) who was only 15 months at the time from my home and refused to give him back. No one would help me. My ex lied and made accusations that were unfounded by any legal and or lawful organization. With this information and the help of others we were blindsided by an order to appear in court on July 5th, 2016. I did not have a lawyer and had no idea how to get one in such short notice. I showed up at court on this day and was served this notice to appear in court on July 05, 2016. On July 05, 2016, I retained a lawyer that I knew nothing about. I was desperate and hurting. This lawyer turned out to be the worse choice I could possibly have made. He did not listen and he did not seem to care about me or my son. This showed in his work. I tried to fire him, to no avail. 3 days before my next court date, I called Jeffery Leving's Law Office and asked to make an appointment. I didn't know of any child custody lawyers and had seen his advertisement about father's rights and thought what about a mother's rights, Who better to talk to about children's rights and mind. What did I have to lose? I was desperate, heartbroken and did not know where my baby was. I made that appointment for the Saturday before my court date. I went to this appointment, feeling low, with no hope and the guilt of allowing this to happen to my baby was more than I could bare. I felt like my heart had stopped beating the day that my baby was taken. I walked into The Jeffery Leving Law office.There, I met with two attorneys: one of these attorneys was Austin Vandeveer. Austin listened to me, this was unusual, because the previous attorney did not. I knew by the look on Austin's face that he could feel some of the heartache, pain, frustration and a loss that a parent should never have to endure. Austin said to me, " Jaime, we can help you get your son back, you don't have to worry anymore. I knew with those words from Austin, that I had come to the right Law Firm. I felt that I could release the air out of lungs that I had been holding so long. I began to cry. Austin answered any and all kind of questions. Austin would also tell why he gave the answers that he did. This was new to me. Austin was what I was looking for in an attorney; knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. He makes you feel like you're a part of his family and with this said, you know that you are in good hands!
