Outstanding lawyer. Very quick study.

I presented Mr. Postma with an extraordinarily complex case that was essentially 30 cases in one. To defend this case required him to develop a good working knowledge of a subject that requires years of study to really understand. He had about a month. He was able to prepare a superb brief and pre...sent the facts in a compelling way. He maintained his credibility and objectivity. I don't know the outcome of the case yet but I can say that I was well represented. I have worked with a variety of attorneys over the years and Mr. Postma was the best I have ever worked with.

Best attorney in town

I have to say, Mr. Postma's reviews are true. I fired my former attorney and had to find a new one. No one would take my case. Then Mr. Postma gave me a 30 minute consultation. He was suspicious of my reasons for firing my last lawyer but asked me to bring him some documents to verify what I ...was saying. He then took my case 2 weeks before trial. His cross examination of my wife was fabulous. He found some information on her that even I was not aware of. The judge granted me 50/50 shared parenting time and parental responsibilities, which my former attorney in Greenwood Village said was not likely. My former attorney made everything so complicated, but Mr. Postma simplified everything for the judge. I now realize I was sputtering whenever I talked about my wife's accusation, and Mr. Postma helped me realize this and helped my simplify was I was really upset about, which turned out to me something that surprised even me. He helped me calm down, helped me realize what was actually important at trial and what was not, and helped me simplify my own testimony at trial and during cross examination. Mr. Postma is personable and seems to have an actual real life example from his long experience as an attorney for what I was facing, how the judge would process the information, what my ex-wife's motivations were and how she would react at trial, and what the judge's likely decision would be. He is like a chess player who has thought out every possible move a dozen moves in advance. I can't say enough about this attorney.

COULDN'T IMAGINE A BETTER LAWYER

Richard is hands down an amazing lawyer. He made a very stressful process very easy. Explained every step. His rate is very reasonable specially considering the level of service you get. I never had a question that wasn't answered. I never had any difficulty reaching him (I hear from a lot of reviews... of other lawyers that this is a big problem). Hands down the best lawyer money can buy. I can't recommend him enough.

Well worth the money

I hired Richard Postma for a custody case. Another attorney who turned down my case recommended him. Mr. Postma gave me an initial consult unlike any of the other attorneys I spoke with. He took me from where I was at (Point A), where I wanted to go (Point B) and then explained the obstacles in my... way and how could get around them if I accepted his advice. It was frustrating, and it took more than a year, but now I have shared custody of my daughter. Looking back, I appreciate the advice Mr. Postma gave me because by telling me to treat the custody case like a marathon and not a sprint and to be patient and take it one step at a time, he got me where I wanted to go. His bill was high, but when my ex-wife asked the court for her attorney fees I realized she had spent almost twice on her attorney that I spent on Mr. Postma, and Mr. Postma found a way to convince the court to not make me pay for her attorney. Overall, I am very satisfied.

Ex cellent

Richard is not only a fantastic lawyer but a great person. He is articulate and extremely knowledgeable of the law. He is attentive and responds with not just the legal, but the human character. He helped me when I was down and in a dark place with no light at the end of my case. Divorce is never a ...happy place, but he inspired me and helped me fight for what I needed. He is honest, fair, and just. Sometimes we do not like the answers we get; Richard will tell you what you need to know good or bad. Without his help it would have been impossible to accomplish what I needed and where I am today.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
