Matt’s principal practice area is family law. He began practicing family law while interning with a firm that focused on that area. After graduating law school and passing the state bar exam he opened up his own practice working predominantly with family law clients.
Matt’s approach to his practice is to focus on what is in the best interest of his clients. He spends the necessary one-on-one time with his clients to determine what their needs are and what will be best for them.
Matt believes that it is extremely important for clients to establish a relationship with their attorney. This allows both the attorney and the client to work better together allowing the attorney to efficiently accomplish the goals of the client.
Matt understands the immense importance and care that is needed when handling a family law case. He and wife are the parents of four children. This allows him to comprehend the complexities and the range of feelings that occur in the lives of his clients.
Besides his work as an attorney, Matt stays busy being involved in the community. Before starting his own practice he spent several months volunteering on a full-time basis with the Volunteer Lawyer’s Program (“VLP”). He continues to volunteer his time with the VLP as often as possible. He is current serves on the Board of Trustees for DRAW (Domestic Relations Attorneys of Washington).
While running his own practice Matt also managed the Spokane County GAAP (Greater Assistance and Access Program). This program provided legal assistance at a reduced expense to members of the community who normally couldn’t afford the attorneys. As a result of this position Matt has been asked to speak at various forums regarding his experience providing access to legal assistance for underprivileged individuals.

Divorce
This was my first experience with an attorney. I think Matthew did a good job. Communication could have been better. At times I wasn't sure what was going on, but that may have been my own fault.
"I endorse this lawyer and would not hesitate to recommend him for a collaborative law or litigation-oriented case."
"Matthew Fischer is a talented attorney with great reputation in the community. I fully endorse him."
"Matthew is a highly skilled and compassionate family law attorney. Our legal community is better for having him."

"I endorse this lawyer. Matt is a very tenacious attorney. I was particularly impressed, however, by his efforts to find cooperative solutions that allowed our clients to avoid the expense of litigation."
"Matt has been very active in the local bar association since he started practicing law. He practices family law with integrity and honesty yet advocates his client's position. He knows what issues are relevant and should be addressed and what issues are not material to the case."
"I have gotten to know Matt through his work as a family law and divorce attorney, and his interest in incorporating collaborative law as an additional service that he can provide to his clients. He has always impressed me as being highly intelligent, hard working, and caring both as professional and as a person."
"I endorse this lawyer. Matt is competent and hard-working. He is prepared, and he uses the facts of the case effectively to advocate for his client. Also, I have observed Matt's interactions with clients. He treats his clients with respect, but also provides them with necessary guidance/instruction."
"I endorse this lawyer. Matthew is a fabulous attorney. I have had the pleasure of sharing an office with him for a few years now, and I have seen firsthand the time, effort, and caring he puts into each of his clients. He is one of the most honest hard working attorneys I know."
"I had the pleasure of getting to know Matt while we were in law school. Even in our earliest years of legal training, I knew Matt was going to be successful as a lawyer. In addition to his solid character, Matt possesses a knack for resolving legal issues that few attorneys can match. I endorse him without reservation."
