Scott Etherton

We hired Scott in 2009 to handle a custody issue that should have been extremely easy to dispute as the other parent had ZERO proof of physical custody. Scott would file motions without consulting us, filed an appeal after being specifically told not to (we were in the process of getting new council ...and him doing that prevented our new lawyer from being able to when she was more prepared and would have won the appeal based on previous case law, Scott didn't cite case law at all in his appeal), for 4 months would not provide us with an accounting for our retainer, then one we told him he was fired he demanded payment "for thousands of dollars of work", when told that we need a physical bill before we would pay him, he said he didn't have one. He wouldn't return phone calls or emails for days, tried to attack the other attorney in declarations instead of focusing on the facts and case law that would support us, and was extremely unprofessional and disorganized in court - often looking disheveled and like he slept in his suit. He is currently not allowed to practice, for the exact issues we had with him, but reports show that this behavior was form 2012, we hired him in 2009 so it started before that!

Child Custody and Parenting Plan Modification...The last 6 months this man has not done what he has promised. He took my money, my faith and trust and abused it beyond repair. My case is a mess and I have had to hire a new attorney to fix his abundance of mistakes; he did not file timley or correctly... or at all, he does not return phone calls and has no vested interest in my case!

The Judge, and I quote said "...you need to follow proper filing procedures..." Motions by this attorney on my behalf have either not been filed, filed with the wrong judge or not at all. He is unresponsive to phone calls and shows no investment in clients he is suppose to be representing. I have t...rusted this man with my emotions and money and after 5 months I still have not seen or spoken to my children! "when" he comes to court he comes unprepared - empty handed even, literally!! My first experience with an attorney and it has been awful...
