When my husband and I first met Jennifer about two years ago. We were searching for a lawyer who could help us with starting a third party custody to take custody of my niece and nephew from a bad situation. My husband and I really didn't know what we were getting when we chose Jennifer and her team.... We honestly just thought she was just going to be like every other typical lawyer for our third party custody case but we were so wrong and so happy we grabbed her up when we did. Since then, Jennifer not only was amazing and helped us with our third party custody, she has helped us with eight different cases ranging from non-custody, parenting plan change, fighting false CPS accusations, Several restraining orders/ no contact orders, No matter what case we through at Jennifer and Robin her assistant they were always ready for the challenge and willing to help. When it comes to staying in contact with Jennifer, my husband and I are always able to reach them in times of crisis, Weather it be via email or by phone. Their response time is unreal very quick to respond. Jennifer is the calm to this crazy storm my husband and I have gone through this past year. Her vast knowledge is impressive, and much appreciated. She is very thorough with her information. She won't lie to you and tell you what you want to hear. She is a straight shooter. Her demeanor when conducting herself in front of the courts is wonderful. No one wants to have to hire a lawyer. It is extremely stressful and can be financially taxing. However, Jennifer and her team were awesome. I was going through a divorce an there was a lot at stake. I hired Jennifer Smith and her team to take on my very complex dirty child custody case. When I met with Jennifer I had been thru Five attorneys , five retainers, five people who in some way or another let me down or made mistakes. When it comes to your kids you don’t want to hire someone who will ma...ke mistakes. I can not express enough how crucial it is to hire the correct representation early on in your case if you want to have positive results. I came to Jen confused and lost and hopeless. Child custody is heart wrenching. She met with me promptly, she guided me correctly, she told me exactly what needed to happen at my consultation. Unfortunately in my case it was to go to trial. My file was inches thick and confusing, she learned my case word for word better then I knew my case. She cares!!!! She cares about me and my kids and she believes me! It’s important to trust your attorney , in my case we were starting the beginning of a long relationship. My daughters were placed with their father after an altercation between their father and step father. We ended up going to a four day trial. She not only got the petitioners whole case dismissed, she did it with tenacity and grace. She was there for me day or night, she comforted me when I was scared, she took me and my family to lunch through out the entire trial, she treated me as if I mattered and she fought for me ... HARD. Not only is this attorney compassionate and driven , she is intelligent and knows law! She’s experienced with complicated cases, she will never be late for a dead line, she gets done what needs done so you don’t have to. You would think all attorneys do that but they don’t. My previous attorneys needed a lot of my help. Jen will guide you correctly you can count on that. Jen and her team got my children back for me after a two year long awful custody battle. She saved my life plain and simple. I love this woman and her entire firm! Please don’t waste your time with anyone else, when it comes to family law this is who you need!!!!

I regret choosing her. She's intelligent, charismatic and capable in person, but the substance was not there. When you're going through a divorce, you need support and clarity. That level of responsiveness was promised, but not delivered. She and her office regularly ignored my emails, wasted tho...usands on paperwork errors, and would NEVER admit that their mistakes were mistakes. When I owned a business and we were responsible for a mistake, we would apologize, fix it without charging customers, and offer them some kind of reassurance or compensation. There was nothing like that - I was charged for everything it took to correct every mistake I found in their work, even when they already had the correct information on file. Mistakes included documents scanned diagonally, documents I had submitted in normal condition that were somehow sent to the opposing counsel dark and illegible, incorrect claims about the opposing party's position, and typos in the decrees awarding assets or debts to the wrong party. (As in, No, he's not responsible for my credit card debt, and like I wrote in several documents, THAT one is his car and THIS one is mine... Things that can't be in a final decree.) When I emailed questions, she would either respond days or weeks later or not respond at all. However, when I tried to address her pattern of mistakes, she sent defensive emails back the same day, justifying and denying the poor performance by saying her documents needing revision was normal and, in her own words, "It happens all the time." (Well, there you go.) Some defensiveness was in the form of bad legal advice, telling me to not talk to my ex, blaming him for the gridlock and telling me to prepare for the case to go to trial because he would not cooperate. (This was not true, he and I were ready to sign after our mediation, but could not until important typos were corrected, which took four emails to get her to acknowledge.) It got to the point where he and I were just texting each other behind her back to wrap up all the necessary paperwork so that we could sign and be done - so I guess she did inadvertently inspire the miracle of getting us to communicate with each other again. If I had listened to her and gone to trial, the costs could have consumed my entire settlement and left me with nothing. I also have grief that during mediation, she did not take my desire to regain my home seriously. She actively tried to dissuade me from fighting for it and kept arguing that the incumbrances (legalese for, "this house is a old, shabby piece of crap") made it something not worth fighting for. I already knew it was shabby house - but it was valuable for so many other reasons. My settlement ended up way too small to even begin to replace it, and now it may take years to ever own a house again, if at all. My ex claimed that his attorneys were dismayed to have to work with her again, because of her office's reputation for disorganization. Because my ex is a known liar, I didn't know what to think of that, but now I suspect it is true. You should not have to be at odds with both your ex and your attorney. It's already difficult enough. I wish everyone a better experience with a more accountable firm.
