Jonathan Baner is an amazing attorney! I was going through a DVPO case. He was informative and communicative the entire time. I was very nervous about how my case was going to go. Despite my best efforts we have unfortunately been placed into a position requiring legal representation for our family due to friction in co-parenting relationship. We are a complex blended family that has many special traits that often seem to fall through the legal cracks especially when it comes... to equal co-parenting and the challenges that presents. In our most recent engagement we struggled with the state appointed agency disregarding our shared custody and despite the claim of "representing neither party" it felt clear that we needed an advocate in the room. While we had hoped we could simply be transparent and just cooperate and ideally collaborate with the state agency it became clear that all the challenges a family like ours faces are unlikely to be heard or considered. We reached out to Baner and Baner and while Miranda was otherwise scheduled for court Jon agreed to not just take the case on short notice but appear in court on his literal birthday. Jon presented our case strongly and made it clear in all of the paperwork that there was more to this case than what the state agency had presented and was able to move the needle. The outcome will likely never be ideal (to either party in such a matter) but Jon absolutely created an outcome that I simply do not believe would have been possible without the expertise of his firm both in the documentation and preparation but in presenting those particulars in court. I can't make it up, while we waited for our case to be heard another attorney asked for 30 days extension on a case because his firm was busy, Jon could have easily tried the same thing but instead he coordinated with his team and put us as a client first. I would never ask someone to do so (appear in court on their birthday!) but I think it speaks volumes to the character of Baner as a family and as a law firm. They absolutely choose who they work with and they will value you as a client as much as you value them as an attorney. You feel like you are on a team that actually cares about your family, not just how many hours they can bill. I always say I hope to never need them again but I feel better knowing that when I do (because let's be honest, we probably will) they will be ready to stand next to us again. We don't go into these things to "beat anyone" or "defeat", we simply go in wishing to be considered and heard as a family and one that has many challenges that don't always fit into a traditional form.
