Reliable and Get it done!

David was reliable for our case. He used our time to guide us through our case, he educated us on our finances and gave sound advice. He doesn't answer promptly to emails but he receives each document I send through email. David follows through and was a great lawyer for our case.

Professional and compassionate bankruptcy

I was full of trepidation at the thought of filing bankruptcy. As a hard working, responsible person medical debt brought me to seek relief from David Vis. I had heard that he was among the best choices in Bellingham. He surpassed my expectations by providing on going support, sensitivity (told me... take healing breaths during court) suggestions on how to rebuild my credit, removed the shame by assuring me this was a step to my financial recovery. David also provided me with a flexible pre payment plan making debt relief possilbe. Any questions I had were followed up within 24 hours, I appreciated his apropriate humor and compassion when preparing me for the entire process. There were no surprises and David removed the stress of the daunting financial decision to file bankruptcy. Very knowlegable and professional, so are his staff.

Thankful Client

I would say filing for bankruptcy ranks as high on the stress scale as going through a divorce! And if you are me, you are facing both at the same time!! So what do you do? You reach out to those who you trust to refer you to a trustworthy attorney who can help you with your bankruptcy. I believe... in being thorough, so I solicited the opinions of more than one friend; my banking friend, my legal assistant friend and a third unrelated source. All three told me to call David Vis. Thank you all for referring me to David!! David is an attorney who truly cares about his clients, and believes in what he does to help others. He informed me of the process, answered all of my questions, and as well gave me tasks to handle on my end, which included taking two on-line classes that are mandatory to get through this process. I did everything David asked of me. He was great calling me back and keeping me informed at all times. If you listen to him, take notes and do your part, you will be as happy as I am that you hired David. My case went smooth, and the final discharge was a few months ago. Then, out of the clear blue, he called me. Of course, since I am still going through my dissolution action, I was panicked that something was wrong. No, nothing was wrong, David was simply calling me to make sure everything was going okay with me, and wanted to be sure I was not having an issues with creditors. In my professional opinion, David went above and beyond the call of duty by calling me. I recommend you hire David Vis as your bankruptcy attorney, you will not regret it!

Does not respond to phone calls

First, I'm still in the process of working through a Bankruptcy (maybe) with Mr. Vis and so I cannot speak to his behavior or skills throughout the process. I can say however, that he left town for two weeks after our first meeting, and then ignored my phone calls for four weeks after his voice mail... said he had returned. (His absence was for a basketball conference.) For the four weeks he was in town and ignoring me he sent none of the forms I needed to complete and finally called me after I left four messages asking for guidance, threatened to go to his offices to see if was still in business, contacted his partner with the same concern, and told him it looked as though I was going to have to contact the authorities regarding the retainer I had left with him on my initial visit. He suddenly called the next day with the same flat, lost and doubtful excuses (delivered in the same tone) heard from many college students trying to come up with something to say that would "float" when they knew they'd been caught delivering an untruth with no good excuse to accomodate it. I'm in the process of deciding whether or not to stay with him and will update these remarks as necessary.

Smart, creative & thorough

My wife and I were in a tough spot. Our business was failing, a victim of tough economic times and intense competitive pressures. Our house had been mortgaged repeatedly to supply working capital for the business in the hopes of a miraculous turnaround and now we were going to lose them both. When... we turned to David for help, we were stressed, embarrassed and in unfamiliar waters - looking at bankruptcy. From this low point, David helped us understand the process, showed us how we could protect some of our assets and helped us see a way through to a new beginning. He worked hard on our behalf and was constantly making suggestions about potential avenues for us to explore with respect to trying to keep our home, etc. He called banks and recommended friendly executives at a local Title Company as part of his advocacy. I had phone conversations with him in the evenings, on weekends, etc. In short, David really honored his commitment to us. Sure, he's busy. No surprise there - considering his work ethic, expertise and generosity of spirit he's in great demand. But with his help, we came through this difficult process with a clear understanding of how the system works, optimism for the future and our dignity intact. It's a tough road, no doubt about that but if you've got to go down it, you want David Vis beside you.
