David E. Vis

I was full of trepidation at the thought of filing bankruptcy. As a hard working, responsible person medical debt brought me to seek relief from David Vis. I had heard that he was among the best choices in Bellingham. He surpassed my expectations by providing on going support, sensitivity (told me... take healing breaths during court) suggestions on how to rebuild my credit, removed the shame by assuring me this was a step to my financial recovery. David also provided me with a flexible pre payment plan making debt relief possilbe. Any questions I had were followed up within 24 hours, I appreciated his apropriate humor and compassion when preparing me for the entire process. There were no surprises and David removed the stress of the daunting financial decision to file bankruptcy. Very knowlegable and professional, so are his staff.

Upon researching lawyers in town, myself and my husband found David Vis to come highly recommended. At the time of our consultation, our lives were up in arms (so to speak)- I was pregnant with my second child, we were facing foreclosure on a bad decision we hastily had made at the height of the mark...et on our first home. We came in with no debt other than our home (which burdened us with an intensely high interest rate). From the beginning of our process with David, he made us feel (for the first time in too long) like the world wasn't crumbling down upon us. We felt like we were in good hands and that proved DEFINITELY to be the case. Throughout the process, David was extremely professional, compassionate, patient, and astute. He made it clear (through his actions) that we were not just another "number" but a family he had care and concern for. He always made it clear that he wanted us to have financial freedom and to make sound decisions re: our future finances. I recommend David to ANYONE in need of help from bad past monetary decisions. David cares, and will pull through for his clients giving them the piece of mind they once thought to be impossible to acquire again.

David Vis is an excellent attorney. He is extremely knowledgable, takes time to explain things, is trustworthy, and has the best interests of his clients at heart. Understand if you choose him as your lawyer that he will walk you thoroughly through the particulars of your case and file paperwor...k in a timely fashion. He is not the quickest at responding to calls (which he prefers to e-mail), but if you absolutely need him he will go to bat for you. My sense is that he prioritizes what he needs to do first. When my case took an unexpected turn, David dropped everything and immediately returned my call--providing much needed expertise and a calming influence. I highly recommend him. If you're someone who needs constant updates as to the status of your case he may not be the best lawyer for you. For everyone else, know that you are in good hands.

David is extremely competent and knows the ins and outs of the bankruptcy process. He thoroughly explained what the process entailed and what to expect. I was probably one of his most reluctant of clients, but he appropriately nudged me along until the process was complete. I sincerely hope I never... have to go through something like this again, but if I do, I would work with David again in a heartbeat.

Want a knowledgeable and effective BK lawyer? Look no further. He wiped out $900k of debt for me even though I had rather sizable tax returns. I put off BK for many years just because I looked too good on paper to think I could qualify. David is a non-nonsense partner that will dispense some tough lo...ve advice along with his legal skills, but he gets the job done and continues to work on my behalf even now that the worst is over. And one more thing: ignore the reprimand from 2006 that sticks out like a sore thumb on this site; I know the story and it's no big thing (he'll tell you too if you are interested in hearing about it). Only criticism I have is that sometimes he gets TOO busy, but I excuse that based on how I know he spent more time with me than he probably should have (so he probably does with others too).
