Mark Bratlien started his criminal justice career in 1976 as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany for his three year tour of duty. After being honorably discharged, Mark worked his way through college. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Business Administration/Finance from California State University at Dominguez Hills.
In addition to his military police experience, Mark worked for two years as a civilian contract military police officer for the U.S. Air Force while attending college, followed by several years as a police officer in So. California. Mark was assigned to patrol and made thousands of traffic stops and hundreds of DUI arrests. Mark finds this experience extremely valuable in his representation of clients charged with DUI and traffic related offenses. It is real world experience that cannot be learned in law school or from a book.
Mark graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2002. He worked for the Whatcom County Public Defender for over five years. Through his skill and hard work, he achieved a winning record of trial victories.
Mark Bratlien lives in Bellingham, enjoys running, and golf.

Mistaken Identity in Goverment Data Base
Few occurances are more alarming than a Gov Data that has your name included by mistake. I engaged Mark Bratlien as my Lawyer to rectify this concern. Mr. Bratlien fulfilled all my expections and more. I endorse him whole heartedly!

Speeding Ticket Dismissed
Mark was very effective in the dismissal of a ticket I received for speeding at 1:30 am on a virtually deserted I-5. There were many defects in the issuance of the ticket and despite a recent tightening of judicial decisions in the jurisdiction where I got the ticket, Mark was able to have the infra...

"Mark was one of the first attorneys who shaped my career. He taught me everything about misdemeanor cases. Being an ex-law enforcement officer gives him amazing insight to cases and in trial, credibility with the jury. He is excellent at understanding his client's needs and works diligently to find a resolution in the best interest of his client. Mark works hard, sets high standards for himself and those around him."
"Way back when I was a legal intern Mark took me under his wing and helped me learn what criminal defense work is all about. He is smart, professional, and always a strong advocate for his clients. His ability to spot legal issues is impressive as is his knowledge of the law itself. He is a great resource for other attorneys and an asset to his clients. I endorse him fully."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mark is a bright, effective and efficient defense lawyer. I had the pleasure of trying a case with him when our clients were both charged with a very emotionally charged crime. Mark was a great advocate for his client as well as a great team player for the trial. I was impressed with his preparedness and advocacy skills. Since that trial, I have retained my high regard for Mark. When I see him in the courthouse with a client, I know his client is getting good service and being well taken care of through the criminal process."
