Veronica A. Freitas

Over three years ago, I was blessed to retain Veronica as my family law attorney. She and her amazing staff have been invaluable walking alongside me during a challenging situation. I was blind sided by ex-husband's decision to leave our marriage of 17+ years. He forced me to sign an agreement... that demanded my kids and I to move across the county, limited my cusody and provided no financial support. From the moment of my consultaion with Veronica, she had an accurate read on my situation and advised me on what to expect from the court system and my ex-husband. Her recommendations were not what I wanted to hear at the time, but her presentation was compassionate and professional. Veronica helped me to take control of my situation. Veronica and her staff respond quickly and thouroughly to emails. I had several frightening situations where my children were not able to be located while in their dad's custody or domestic violence situtiaons. Veronica repsonded to me after hours, on weekends and even while away on vacation so that she could advise me on how to handle the situation. This practice is small but it is an advantage as Veronica is intimately involved in my case and her lead paralegal, Amy, is the one person working wtih me for all motions and paperwork. Amy often remembers important details that I have forgotten during such a stressful time. Both Veronica and Amy write well. After reading so many declarations from my ex-husband's multiple councils, I appreciate the consise, professional, truthful and well written declarations that are produced on my behalf. Veronica and Amy are always senstive to my children. When calling they make sure I am able to speak freely without little ears hearing uncomfortable conversations. I was able to observe Veronica work well and cooperate with a variety of opposing councils as my ex husband had >19 attorneys (family law and criminal) represent him during the past 3 years. Veronica worked with my ex husband during many of his pro se stints, as well. She was patient and despite his challenging behaviors, kept my kids and me as her priority. Billing is well documented and fair. I have consistently felt that she has under billed me for emails/ conversations. Veronica is a very stong advocate who is well respected, knowledgable, hard working, compassionalte and committed to her clients. Her support staff is personable, kind, professional and eager to help. Sadly, I have endured a long divorce process, however; Veroncia has done a wonderful job advocating for my kids and me. I had great communication and advice in what was a very difficult custody case. My wife had a long CPS history and drug abuse history. She initially got primary custody of my children by filing a false request for order of protection. I was ordered to do a 1 year domestic violence class. I am a black... male and my wife was hispanic. My chances of getting primary custody seemed grim. Veronica came highly recommended to me from another attorney. She not only got me primary custody of my children, but got a 10 year no contact order with my former wife and wife's family. The case involved a kidnapping and Veronica gave me excellent advice to hire a Colorado attorney where my wife took the children. This was after Veronica figured out that the State of Washington Child Find Detective refused to help my case. Veronica performed her services over a 1 1/2 period until trial. Her fees were reasonable and I was never over charged. I cannot thank her and her staff enough. I am now primary custodial parent of my two 7 and 8 year old sons. I would recommend her to anyone. Veronica took over my case when it became apparent that I would be going to trial over a custody dispute. My case had dragged out almost 2 years. She was very straightforward with me at our first meeting - which I appreciated since I had been with a bigger firm prior to hiring her and while I didn't ...necessarily have a "bad" experience there, I did feel as though I got lost in the shuffle. Her staff is very considerate, kind, and hardworking - they took the time to really get to know my case and worked with me to draft any motions we needed in order to save a bit of money. They always returned my calls and emails right away anytime there was a question or something had happened that might affect my case - and really my life. I felt protected for the first time since I got out of the relationship! When it came time for trial Veronica studied everything about my case. She read every single email, text message, and filing that had been done previously. She knew the in's and out's of my case better than I did (and I had to live it)! She was at home in the courtroom and put on the best possible trial I could ever hope for - she defended me tirelessly - there is absolutely nothing I would change about the way she conducted the trial. She did everything she could for me even down to the little things like helping me prepare to be a witness and helping me feel calm and safe in the same room as the other party. Meeting Veronica has been the best thing that has ever happened to me! She helped me to finally find my voice again. She went above and beyond for me and I will always be grateful for the way she advocated for myself and my child's future. I believe that advocating for others is Veronica's true calling. She is extremely dedicated and insanely good at her job!

I hired Veronica for my Legal Separation/Divorce case. I was dealing with a person in which I had a court ordered restraining order and felt the need for strong representation as a protection. A number of her prior cases can be researched on Google and after reading about some of her very public cour...t cases, I knew Veronica would be an outstanding choice. I was not disappointed. She was able to identify inconsistencies in the statements submitted by the other party which caused a judgment in my favor. My case took a year to finally settle. Having Veronica by my side along the way was a total confidence builder because based on my own experience with her, I could trust that she was going to be exceptional and I didn't have to worry. Veronica isn't really the caregiver type so I wouldn't expect a lot of hand holding. She definitely is the take charge no BS type which is imperative when you need someone strong to take the lead in a direction that equals positive results. She is without question one of the smartest women I have met.

I've had a long hard battle for custody of my daughter and thanks to Veronica, I was able to secure the best outcome for her. My ex wife was physically and emotionally abusive to me, and emotionally abusive to our daughter. She had multiple friends of hers make things up and straight out lie about me.... The court appointed parental evaluator did a terrible job of her report and recommended my ex wife to have custody. In trial, Veronica knew all the evidences back to front, including which pieces of evidence were on which page of which exhibit. She was able to show my ex wife to be aggressive, violent and a liar in court, and was able to do it efficiently. She judged which evidence carried maximum weight and didn't waste time (e.g. money) on things which were redundant. She was a sniper when it came to hitting the right points to show how things really were. She left the parenting evaluator looking like a complete fool, and showed that her report distorted things in favor of my ex wife in ways which left no doubt about the report having little value. Veronica's understanding of what components of the report were most important allowed her to show major flaws in key areas without needing to go over every line of the report while still undermining the validity of the whole thing. Early on in my case, it became very clear that a solution wouldn't be able to be negotiated with my ex wife outside of a court room, so instead of wasting time (e.g. money) jumping through hoops, which would achieve nothing, Veronica did what was needed for a good faith effort without getting caught up trying to get a resolution at that stage. She's very good at avoiding smacking your head against a brick wall. The best thing I can say about Veronica is that, even though I was her client, she acted like my daughter was the one she was fighting for. She had my daughter's best interest at heart and wasn't afraid to let me know that I should change something in a proposed parenting plan as it would be better for my daughter, even though it would give me a little less time with her. Veronica is one of the few lawyers who is truly in the business to have a positive impact on peoples' lives. If you have a case which will go to trial, you should hire Veronica before the other side does.
