Lucky to have him

Steve represented me in a contentious family law matter and was zealous, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the litigation. He successfully resolved the case through summary judgment, including winning attorney's fees from the other party. When opposing counsel engaged in potentially unethical ...conduct, Steve did not hesitate to file appropriate motions to address the issue. Throughout the ordeal, Steve was a calming presence, and was careful to explain the litigation in terms I understood. He clearly had a great deal of experience, and was on familiar terms with judges, lawyers, and other members of the legal community. I have worked with other lawyers, and was impressed by how responsive Steve was by comparison. He promptly responded to all my communications with thoughtful answers to my questions. If you ever need a family law attorney, you would be lucky to have Steve Hemmat.

Solid reliable and still ready to adapt

Mr. Hemmat has been an extremely reliable and stable lawyer in a very challening case. He listened closely, but was ready to provide honest feedback and direction even when it was contrary to our initial beliefs. He provide reasoning and justification and didn't merely act as a mouth piece. He got... to the truth of the matter and helped us with making the right ethical decisions even when the other party was attempting to exacerbate the conflict in an already challenging situation.

Review

I hired these attorneys because I needed to go to trial. Within the first several weeks I was 15k deep in fees, on top of a retaining fee of 4k. I hired these attorneys because my husband fractured the hyoid bone to my neck while I was holding my daughter and my ex claims mental health as the reason ...I cannot see my daughter. Its been months of OFW calls of him shoving my duaghter, picking her up inappropriately, hitting her on the head and video calls where my duaghter is shouting and hiding so she can talk to me more. I have just been a freak show for them to watch while they drain my bank accounts, drop me and than tell me they dont have a trial attorney to assist me. Im out thousands of dollars while my daughter is isolated to Califorina. Laura yelish opposing counsel ran the bill so high shes asking for my child support payments now because of the excessive funds this has cost. We are still married and my daughter is now completely isolated and she is not even 3 years old yet. My poor duaghter.

Mistake

I definitely do not recommend hiring Steve Hemmat. I initially talked with Mr. Hemmat regarding my family law situation and he assured me that he could help. I really liked the fact that we discussed different possible ways that we might proceed. Then I gave him the $4,000 retainer. It was sh...ortly after this that the communication started slowing down. At first Mr. Hemmat had some excuses, such as being sick or a friend of the family passing, and promised to get in touch with me soon. But when he eventually did respond, it was only to delay communication further. Then the communication just stopped. Two months later, when I finally heard from Mr. Hemmat for the last time, it was only to be informed by Mr. Hemmat that he was withdrawing as my attorney and that I should look for a new counsel. He provided a small refund of what was remaining from my retainer - but the majority of that was lost due to Mr. Hemmat's "researching" of my case. No attorney documents were created. No paperwork filed. Only limited communication in the beginning. And then Mr. Hemmat just quit. Not only did lose thousands of dollars to "research" but I also lost several months of valuable time. A very frustrating experience. Do not make the same mistake

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Steven and I worked together as opposing counsel for parents who had been at loggerheads in a child relocation matter due to years of acrimony between the parents. The acrimony had essentially made it so the parents were unable to communicate with each other or trust each other. I was impressed with Steven's ethics, care, patience, and professionalism in guiding the parties to a satisfactory resolution of all claims and setting the parents up for success going forward. I look forward to working with Steven again, and certainly would refer him to potential clients in need of an excellent family law attorney."

"I worked together with Steve on a difficult parentage case and was impressed by his knowledge, experience, and client skills. Steve was clearly familiar with every issue in the case, as well as opposing counsel and the judge. Although he was busy, he communicated with his client on a daily basis. I have great confidence in Steve, and refer clients to him on a regular basis."
