Unable to Focus

I usually work as an executive assistant, but offered to volunteer a weekend to help Joy prepare a clients files so she could hand them off to another attorney her client hired to replace Joy. She insisted on paying me for my time, so I told her that preparing files to hand off shoulen’t be more than... minimum wage. I started to work with Joy on a Thursday in July 2023, but due to her inability to focus on the job, we spent our time looking at her vehicle, discussing if it was a good deal and a reliable car, and other topics that did not relate to preparing the files she needed to hand off. On Friday, before I left, I got her to finally agree to a daily agenda, but on Saturday she was unable to stick to the tasks we listed on the agenda. On Sunday when Joy started to stray from the agenda, I reminded her of the time limit for a task and she became upset. Joy was unable to stay focused on the agenda she created and each time I reminded her of the timeline she became more and more upset. Finally, when she told me “this is a warning…” I realized we will not get any traction with preparing the files, it was the last day we agreed to work on them, so I left. I do not believe Joy has the ability to focus on what is needed to effectively represent a client, and I would not recommend her to anyone needing legal advice for employment & Labor and Administrative Law. She has too much trouble focusing on what she needs to work on.
