[The best Immigration Lawyer]

I and my spouse hired Liya Djamilova because of her avvo rating, educational qualifications and her working experiences. We were granted for withholding of removal and Asylum. We are so grateful to her !

Not sure where to start

I called Liyas office last Friday and got an appointment for Monday. Every time I called, the office would answer in a foreign language and I had to confirm it was the right place; hence it makes me wonder if it only caters to a specific group - impression 1. Impression 2- Liya was the second lawyer... I talked to (both of them found on avvo). The first one was amazing and gave me valuable information (i wanted to confirm this with liya and decide the next plan of action for my mom). After reading the reviews here, i was looking forward to talk to her. I was welcomed with a lady sounding very harsh. I explained the situation and she simply said there is nothing you can do about it. Immigration is slow and won't do anything within a week. Little background: my mom is a permanent resident and got the i551 stamped in her passport but never received the green card. My dad whose application I took care of as well at the same time got his early 2016. So my moms taking this long was unusual and odd. Each Uscis agent had no idea was happening and we got different information. Ultimately we were told that the file must have gotten lost. My mom is due to return next week so we needed to try to fix it once and for all before she exits the country again (to avoid complications). So back to liya, she absolutely didn't seem to care and plainly said there is nothing to do. We will have to restart the whole process and repay all the fees for her. I asked if she could help. She said no she wouldn't be of any use at this point. The lawyer I talked to before gave me three options! At that point, I asked liya was about extending the i551 through the local office so she can exit and enter without any issues until we fix the green card problem. The previous lawyer was the one that told me about this... Only then she said, mmm yes you can do that but again it will take forever. Your mother likely will have to stay in the country until it's done. I talked to liya on nov 14 and I'm happy to let her know that as of nov 18 meaning today my mother got her renewed i551 + got her biometrics done and the card is finally on its way. I didn't give up because the previous lawyer was the one that gave me the boost to insist and make it happen. Liya was only a downer and was not even helpful as to what are the next steps supposed to be. Not sure where the 18 reviews below are from but my experience with her was horrible. I hope she learns from it and treats people consulting her better in the future. Maybe take example on the first lawyer I talked to.

We answer the phone in Spanish as the majority of our clients is Spanish speaking. I am not sure what is the problem with that. I advised you that it is a complicated process that may take a prolonged period of time. Anyone who ever had to deal with immigration knows that it is true. In sum, I am not sure what was the problem with the consultation that you received, especially because it was free.

Really Great Expert

Наша семья выражает большую благодарность Лие. За её работу как эксперта по правилам человека в Узбекистане. Она указала об этом очень аргументированно с конкретными фактами. Our family is very grateful to Liya. Liya worked as an expert on human rights in Uzbekistan. She pointed out the problems t...o the point and used specific facts that are really important to mention.

Excellent Lawyer

My husband and I are from Ukraine. We met Liya at the immigration detention in Tacoma were we were taken from the airport upon arrival. We both were desperate and had no idea what was going on with us. She was very professional and understanding. She guided us through the whole process and we were gr...anted with asylum. We are very grateful to her for the excellent work! We recommend her to anyone who has similar problems. Tonya.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
