Jordan A Taren

Jordan is a lawyer who focuses his practice on complex litigation related to civil rights, fair housing, disability rights, and employment law, including class actions.

Recently, Jordan represented over 150 workers in a class action to recover unpaid wages for work performed off-the-clock, unpaid overtime, and unlawful wage deductions, which resulted in a total recovery of more than $1.8 Million.

He has litigated cases at all levels of courts in Washington State, including the U.S. District Courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Jordan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience exposing and prosecuting civil rights violations.  His litigation experience includes: 

• State and federal wage and hour, overtime, and meal/rest break actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and Washington Wage Statutes such as the Minimum Wage Act and the Industrial Welfare Act;
• Enforcing civil rights and anti-discrimination, harassment and retaliation laws including under the Washington Law Against Discrimination and federal Civil Rights statutes; 
• Fighting for Fair Housing for clients discriminated or retaliated against in the rental, sales, or lending of housing, and defending unlawful evictions and foreclosures;
• Exposing unfair and deceptive business practices through the Consumer Protection Act;
• Class Action litigation to vindicate the rights of classes of people aggrieved by unlawful policies and practices.

Jordan is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law and is licensed to practice in the state of Washington. Prior to law school, he was the Director of Compliance and a Fair Housing Investigator at a fair housing center serving the Chicagoland Metropolitan Area. Jordan is originally from Oak Park, Illinois, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon.
