Erica joined Rios & Cruz in October 2010 and works primarily in the Tacoma office. Currently, Erica’s practice focuses on detained removal cases including cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, adjustment of status, waivers, U and T visas, stays of removal and federal court litigation. Before joining the firm, Erica practiced immigration law on the U.S./Mexico border with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) where she was the managing attorney for TRLA’s Anti-Human Trafficking team and the director of the Legal Orientation Program at the Willacy Detention Center in Raymondville, Texas. Erica has a background in international human rights and has worked on various human rights issues in Mexico, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. In August of 2012, Erica was appointed to service on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration and is the co-chair of the Commission’s Mental Health Advisory Group. Erica has done pro bono work with both Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice (VAIJ) and the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Erica is licensed by the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the Fifth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals.
