Hired and Retained for 15 Years! The best decision!

If you are reading this review, then it is my hope that you consider it closely for an accurate review of Ms. Howard's legal services. I hired Ms. Howard more than 15 years ago to be my attorney for a divorce case with child support. I did not hire somebody to listen to me whine about my case, but in...stead one that would handle my case ethically and professionally, and not promise me a thing but rather just do her part so the outcomes could be the best that could be expected. I retained her because she did the job and the other party in the case did not make things easy at all. I read comments in reviews here that she was rude. I believe people are mistaking candid and 'get the job done' approach as being rude, but instead she is saving her client money and time by just getting to business. I learned over the years that her services were as good as the assistance I provided in my attention to detail in the documents and items she needed to do her job. I did my best to give her what she asked and do it as quickly as I was able to provide it. If I was not wearing my "big boy pants" at anytime, she was quick to get me back on task so that I was able to do my part in it all. I was certain that my children would have the best support and payments were emphasized in court as needing to go to the care of the children, period. When the other party was not complying with court orders, Ms. Howard got things back on track for holding the other party accountable. My case went before the court many times for adjustments over the years as the children grew up and out. Ms. Howard was solid each and every time. If you want an attorney that will 'tell you like it is' and not let you 'slip into a poor me pit of misery,' contact Ms. Howard. Then, do your part in getting her what she needs and do it with more attention and speed than you expect from her. She has other clients, you have perhaps only one attorney. Give her a call. Here 15 years later, I am sure glad I did.

Would give negative stars if I could

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Incompetent, and won't stand up for you. Thank goodness I fired her and sought other counsel who told me something I did not know. You can offer an attorney to pay only a fraction of what you owe, to settle the bill. When I fired Sue Ellen, I owed her $2200. I wro...te her a scathing letter and offered $700 to settle the bill. She wrote back a very rude, condescending, unprofessional letter, filled with spelling and grammatical errors in which she accepted my offer of payment. Her message in essence was "Fine, I'll take you money, and good riddance to you". Wow, really Sue Ellen? I'm very skeptical of positive reviews on here. I find it hard to believe Sue Ellen has the ability to offer exceptional, expedient service. I'm led to ponder that perhaps these positive reviews are not authentic.

After 5 years she still remembered me

Knowing your attorney is paying attention is priceless. 5 years ago I sought her help. After what was a very lengthy free session, she gave me advice leading to my not having to seek legal help at the time. Now 5 years later, she still remembers me and is now handling my divorce long distance. I was... originally referred to Suellen by someone who had to face her in court, that is saying something.

Mediator

Suellen recently mediated my divorce. I was a bit skeptical reading the reviews about her posted on AVVO put I am happy to say I was not disappointed with her at all! She was on time, very nice, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful! I used her services through the King County Volunteer Family Law Se...ttlement Conference Program and she was scheduled to mediate with us for a three hour session. She stayed with us beyond our time for our first session and graciously offered to do another mediation session where everything was finalized. I enjoyed working with her and was grateful for her time and expertise.

Incompetant and disrespected by peers

Used this attorney for a short while to handle ugle separation and divorce. Discovered quickly that she is borderline incompetant, is poorly regarded by legal peers and judges and that she does not track case well. She is cheap to start out with but expensive in the bigger picture due to her unethic...al way of managing cases. Plays games with other side that went against me in Court. Had to fire her and retain an lawyer that could acutally HELP versus hinder my case!

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have worked with Suellen on a few matters involving friends or clients of mine who needed family law assistance. I have also referred many other lawyers, clients and friends to her. Suellen is smart, quick on her feet, practical, well-connected in family law circles and highly efficient. Her instincts are sound and her knowledge of the law, her adversaries and the bench keen. I cannot imagine getting more bang for the buck than what Suellen adroitly delivers. I recommend her absolutely."
