About 10 mos. ago I was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Bellevue and found myself in a situation I'd never been in before and had no clue where to start, but I knew I needed help fast! Matt Knauss has been a great help to me. He has been professional and never made me feel like I'm a bad person for getting a DUI. He kept me informed every step of the way. In April of 2014 I made a very serious error in judgement and personal behavior. I was visiting Seattle on business. My local sales agents and I had an extremely successfull series of sales calls and went out that evening to celebrate. Needless to say I drank entirely too much and made the disastrous... decision to get behind the wheel to drive back to my hotel. I was pulled over for going thru a stop light and was submitted to a road sobriety examination that resulted in a breath analysis test at the local Police Station. The results were not in my favor. I failed miserably. Being from St. Louis, I knew no one in the legal profession to represent me. One of my Agents recommended Matt to me and I was given an appointment the next day. Matt listened to my story and impressed me from the very start that he knew the ins and outs of DUI Law and genuinely cared for me personally and would be an outstanding advocate in achieving the best outcome for me. Over the course of the next few months, Matt reviewed all the test results, radio calls and taped recordings of the roadside field sobriety test administered. He found, as he termed it, "flaws in the process and procedure". He took his findings and concerns to the Prosecuting Attorney and after several negotiations was able to get the charge reduced to Reckless Driving. I was spared potentally more excessive court fines, two days in jail and more serious driving limitations. I was truly fortunate to have found Matt and placed my faith and trust in his hands. I titled my review of Matt above and beyond because Matt truly could not have gone further or done more to help me when I thought all was lost in the absolute worst situation. I was charged with suspicion DUI in Kirkland. I contacted Matt on a referral from a friend. I was extremely panicked due to t...he fact that I refused the breath test. I had never been in that situation before and had no idea what to do. He was very honest and up front about the possible outcomes and at the same time assured me that hope was not lost. He was confident and seemed to be respected by the prosecutors and judges in court. We, mostly he, came up with a plan and stuck to it through the whole process. I felt a sense of security in a very unpredictable situation. He made sure I made it to all of my court appearances even if that meant driving me there himself. He was able to persuade the court to agree to a deal for a lesser charge. If I were to be convicted of DUI, I would be faced with losing my job and a great deal of financial and emotional hardship. Matt went above and beyond to fight for me and for that, I will be forever grateful. I would recommend him a million times over.
