A truly unbelievable waste of an entire day

Mr. Kontos needs to retire. The biggest red flag in our consultation was that it was "too good to be true". On a cold call he spoke to me on the phone for more than 6.5 hours, telling me that he would represent me and going through my entire case file with me and the history of my entire conflict.... He assured me that the next day we would sign a contract, pay the retainer and begin work. I woke up to find a rejection email from him on the basis that even though he believed me, and money wasn't an issue, he has "too much secondary trauma" watching clients get chewed up by a corrupt system and he didn't want to watch it happen to me. Imagine a paramedic arriving at a car accident and saying "I am tired of watching people bleed out." And then getting in the ambulance and driving away. If David truly has this level of secondary trauma then he needs to retire. If he lied about his reasons for declining, he needs to retire. If he is in the habit of taking up 6.5 hours of prospective client hope and time just because he likes talking on the phone and making false promises, he needs to retire. Maybe he was a capable or even amazing litigator once. He is now apparently a cynical pessimist, disinterested in doing hard work, and declaring up front that he expects to lose complex litigations.

Careless and unreliable

Careless, unreliable, incompetent. Missed deadlines, did not advice me on how to be proactive, just sat and took blows from the opposing side, would not return phone calls, things had to be done the last minute, because of this I was portrayed as careless one in the case. Had to change lawyers and th...e new one was totally blown away how badly things spun out of control under his care. Nevertheless he got paid for his incompetency and I will be paying the opposing party for many years to come. Sad.

David Kontos-- "A Good Egg"

This was my Ex-husband's second attorney in a high conflict divorce, and the level of tension went down dramatically once he finally hired Mr. Kontos. During negotiations, things that came back from Mr. Kontos, were geared toward creating resolution, instead of inflaming the conflict. My attorney spo...ke highly of Mr. Kontos throughout the process, and we always heard back in a timely fashion. Even though the case still went to trial, I always felt that Mr. Kontos treated everyone, including me, with respect, though out the process. I was so grateful for what he brought to the situation to resolution, that when it was over, and my attorney said it was Ok, I wrote him a thank you letter. Mr. Kontos has a good reputation in the community, and I have heard other people say good things about him. I have also recommended him to other people since my divorce. The person I knew who hired him was quite satisfied too.
