Caution: Pressured to Sign Before Ready -- Rushed and Incomplete Process

I engaged Jennifer King’s services after my previous estate attorney, who was truly exceptional, retired, intending to establish a thoughtful, well-prepared estate plan. From the very start, I made it clear that I was in excellent health, was planning proactively -- not urgently -- and still nee...ded essential information before I could finalize anything. Despite this clarity, at exactly the one-year mark from our initial conversation, I was repeatedly pressured to finalize and sign draft documents that were incomplete and inaccurate. A key example: a provision assigning $24,000 each for the care of my two pets -- ten times the amount I had instructed. I raised this error multiple times in writing and even by phone, where Jennifer assured me she was correcting it “in real time” -- yet it remained uncorrected in every subsequent draft. More broadly, Jennifer and her assistant worked as a tag team, pushing forward with their own signing schedule despite my clear statements that the documents were incomplete and, in some places, inaccurate. In one meeting, she even criticized me in front of my financial advisor for “taking too long,” ignoring the fact that I had communicated from the outset that I was not yet ready to sign. Additionally, Jennifer provided names of Trust Services companies I could consider as executors but repeatedly emphasized their supposed inconsistency and unreliability, noting she was considering offering trust services through her own firm (which she has since done). When I later spoke with the trust company I ultimately selected, they were very interested to hear this. In my view, it is concerning when an attorney undermines confidence in other professionals while positioning themselves as the alternative. Writing a will is a highly personal, detailed process that requires trust, patience, and care. It is not something to be rushed when a client has been clear they are not ready. Since moving to a different estate attorney, I have experienced a much more respectful, patient, and collaborative process, and I’m very grateful for the difference. If you are a client who wants to move at your own pace, ensure every detail is correct, and be treated as a true partner in the process, I would advise caution when considering Jennifer King’s services. She may be better suited to clients who are ready to sign within a short timeframe and prefer a more attorney-driven, fast-paced approach.

Wonderful Attorney

Jennifer is incredibly knowledgeable and very accommodating! I had procrastinated on making a will, but finally decided to get it done. I was going in for surgery in a week, and I asked Jennifer if she could complete it before the surgery...and she delivered! Within days, she had the first drafts ...ready for me to review. Jennifer pointed out potential problems with how I had named beneficiaries in my life insurance policy and produced forms for me to send to my insurance representative to correct the issues. She was very attentive and thorough. It was a pleasure working with her, and I highly recommend Jennifer. She is - by far- the best Attorney I've had the experience of working with!

Outstanding Attorney

When my sister who lived in the Seattle area was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I called a friend who recommended Jennifer to do the estate planning that was needed as soon as possible. Jennifer understood the critical timing of what was going on and was not only extremely professional, but very com...passionate and went beyond what most attorneys would ever do. She actually came to the hospital bed to facilitate gathering the wishes of my sister and to execute the necessary documents. She was able to structure the documents for the best interest of the family in every way. Jennifer and her team followed through for the months after my sister's death to help with the complicated settling of the estate. Our entire family strongly recommends Jennifer as an honest, trustworthy, compassionate and service oriented legal professional.

Jennifer made our will and estate planning effortless! She was a delight to deal with as well as intelligent and timely. For most people these matters are very complicated but Jennifer and her staff made things easy to undersand and painless. I would definitely use her again and tell anyone looki...ng for a top notch attorney to call her.
