About Casey
Biography
At Baxter Law, LLC, our founder is devoted to seeing that his clients receive the high standards of professional representation that they need after an arrest or accusation. His experience in criminal litigation includes being a former Deschutes County Deputy District Attorney and prior President of the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Association.
His extensive experience in the courtroom has greatly benefitted those facing a variety of charges ranging from DUIIs to murder.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:
Being born and raised in Oregon, Casey has a unique view into the specific issues that affect our local residents. After high school in Bend, OR, Casey enlisted in the United States Marine Corp as a Helicopter Crew Chief. It was here that he learned the dedication necessary to handle a wide variety of matters, even when things may seem hopeless.
Casey’s higher education includes graduating from:
- The University of Houston, graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in Business Management
- President of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society
- The University of Denver Sturm College of Law
- Member of the Law School's Moot Court team
- Served for the Criminal Representation Clinic, representing low income clients
Casey also has his financial advising and real estate licenses, and has experience working with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
EXPERIENCE AS A DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY:
Casey’s experience as a Deputy District Attorney has allowed him to try many misdemeanor and felony cases. He even has experience successfully co-chairing a major 2013 murder trial. In addition, his efforts paved the way for Deschutes County’s Veteran's Treatment Court and implementing a “Veteran's Intervention Strategy” in the County to assist and address issues of veteran’s returning from combat.

Replied last July 05, 2016Although I'm sorry to hear that this client was dissatisfied with my services, I am happy that I was able to negotiate a great deal with the State. This client was facing a maximum of 3 years in jail and a $18,750 fine. However, after extensive negotiations with the State, all three counts will be "dismissed" and this client may end up with no criminal conviction, and not have to spend a day in jail, if certain conditions are met.

Avoid this lawyer
I paid this lawyer to defend me. When he showed up he was late and didn't even know my name. I had called him repatedly and asked for a call back and specific information. Never called back, never left a message for me. This guy runs a squeezy lawyer firm, he will rob you of your time an money.

Replied last February 23, 2017It's unfortunate that somebody would say such harsh things when I pride myself in being there for my clients and having either myself or my support staff getting back to them in a timely manner. In certain circumstances, I have multiple cases going in multiple courtrooms at the same time. The client may see this as me showing up late, but in actuality I am tending to another matter and the court staff in the other courtroom are well aware. However, I appreciate the constructive criticism and will always work to improve my services.

Awful
I hired Mr Baxter to help me out of a little trouble I got myself in to and let me just say first of all he charged way to much and second he didn't do anything! He didn't even show up at court and every time I have an appointment with him he don't show up... Don't waste your money on this guy
