A native of Connecticut, my family moved to South Carolina when I was still a child. I received my English degree from the University of South Carolina in 1982 and my Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland in 1990.
Following law school, I clerked for a year in the juvenile department of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, where it was not uncommon to conduct hearings for as many as 100 children daily, either as delinquents, children in need of assistance or children in need of supervision. My final year of clerkship was in adult criminal court.
In 1994, I joined the Office of the City Solicitor for Baltimore City and was assigned to the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) where I worked directly with the director and HABC's chief of police. At the time, HABC was the fifth largest housing authority in the nation and was tackling urban revitalization amid rampant gang violence and drug wars. As counsel, I represented HABC in housing court, and in citizen review boards and administrative hearings on landlord/tenant issues, while providing advice and counsel on such diverse matters as lead paint abatement, community policing, contract review and labor contracts.
I transferred from HABC to the Baltimore City Police Department in 1997. Representing a department with over 3,000 sworn officers in a city with one of the highest murder rates in the country presented numerous challenges while offering invaluable experience. I defended complex civil rights cases in state and federal court, prosecuted narcotics and gambling asset forfeiture cases, prosecuted officers in administrative disciplinary proceedings, and provided advice and counsel to senior command.
After moving to Southern Oregon in 2000, I served as Lithia Auto Group’s first in-house counsel, providing advice in employment and consumer law to senior management and to more than 20 store managers across the West. I also represented Lithia in Oregon State Bureau of Labor and Industries claims and at U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission disputes in multiple states, while conducting company-wide internal investigations of employee misconduct.
In pursuit of a meaningful career, I received my training in family law at the Center for Non-Profit Legal Services in Medford. As a sole practitioner for over a decade, I have built a solid reputation as a family law litigator throughout Southern and Central Oregon, providing advice, representation and advocacy to diverse clients and their families.

An excellent, straight-forward attorney
When I realized I needed a divorce attorney, I read many reviews and decided on Sara because her clients’ descriptions and her own words on her website suggested a person who would use her knowledge and experience to give me a realistic and honest understanding of the situation. Also, she had taken ...

Thank you, Sara!
Sara took us on after being turned down 3 other places. She is patient, understanding, and kind when telling you the reality of your situation. She was very knowledgeable in foreseeing how the court of Lane county would receive our case and tailored our request to slide through the court system witho...

Couldn't ask for a better attorney
Upon calling her office, she was the first attorney to actually answer. No explaining to a secretary and waiting for a call back. I consulted with her and hired her on the spot. My ex wife took off with my kids to California and had been gone for 2 months. Sara handled everything in a timely manner a...

Incompetent
First, Sara did not file a response in my divorce case even though I reminded her of the 30 day mark several times. After the 30 day mark I called and left a message stating the 30 day mark had passed. She then filed a response that day, and I had to call the courthouse myself to get them to put the ...
Unfortunately, while struggling to navigate the most painful and frightening circumstances of their lives, some clients are compelled to engage in costly and time consuming hyper-vigilance and micro-management, a behavior that can bring about misinterpretations and misunderstanding of legal procedure and strategy overall. In a court proceeding, we temporarily relinquish some measure of control to an outside authority. This can bring our greatest fears to surface, causing us to become distrustful of those looking out for our best interests; indeed, causing us to become unnecessarily aggressive, critical and self-undermining. In this case, my work had already resulted in a favorable judgment prior to the client's loss of confidence. She was unaware of having prevailed and felt compelled to try to manage the case through court clerks who have neither the authority nor the facts necessary to administer legal advice. To prevent this type of occurrence, it is important to find an attorney with whom clients can comfortably communicate. Rapport is paramount in staving off fear-driven and reactionary decisions that have the potential to irrevocably damage ones case. I wish this client the best and am confident in the knowledge that this matter was won before confidence had been lost.
"I endorse this lawyer as a skillful and prepared advocate upholding the highest professional standards. I had many cases with Sara during her time in Medford and Grants Pass and we enjoyed a very respectful relationship keeping the adversarial constraints of our clients to a minimum."
"I endorse this lawyer. I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Angeletti before I was a lawyer, working as her law clerk while in law school, and getting to know her as a fellow attorney in the community. Ms. Angeletti is a knowledgeable and passionate advocate. I referred a family member to her and that person was very happy with the outcome of her case."
