I am a professional mediator and arbitrator with over thirty years' experience helping parties resolve challenging disputes constructively and amicably. Over 90% of my cases result in agreement. Following fifteen years as a civil litigator and trial lawyer representing everyone from individuals and small business owners to McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co., Honda, Rite Aid Pharmacies, and other large corporations, I limited my practice in 2002 to mediation and arbitration, mainly of construction, workplace/employment, education, insurance coverage, and family disputes. I also have particular expertise and experience working with high-conflict, high-emotion disputes. I regularly lecture and train on advanced mediation techniques, and serve on the arbitration or mediation panels of numerous courts and government agencies, including the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Department of Education, the U.S. Postal Service, etc. I am a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, a member (and former Board member) of the Oregon Mediation Association and the state bar's Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") Section, and one of the editors of the Oregon State Bar's ADR Handbook. I'm based in Portland, but am glad to travel as needed, and am happy to work with parties to ensure my fees are reasonable.
