Tony Abrams is passionate about helping people. He serves as a trusted advisor in Oregon and Southwest Washington, creating estate plans that reflect each client’s unique values, life circumstances, and personal goals. Tony listens carefully, explains complicated concepts in plain language, and provides advice that leaves clients feeling heard and empowered.
Tony prides himself on building lasting relationships with his clients across multiple family generations and is proud to be at a firm that has been doing the same since the 1980’s. Tony knows from experience that modern families come in many forms and he enjoys assisting blended families and LGBTQIA+ folks with their planning needs.
Prior to joining Nay & Friedenberg, Tony practiced estate planning and nonprofit law in Seattle and he spent the last three years leading a Jewish community foundation. Tony values the opportunity to advise clients on ways to leverage charitable giving to build a lasting personal or family legacy.
Tony has an advanced degree in taxation, taught as an adjunct instructor for the University of Washington School of Law’s Graduate Program in Taxation, helped draft Washington’s version of the Uniform Trust Decanting Act, and has been selected multiple times as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine.
Tony enjoys practicing mindfulness, cooking and hosting gatherings, and he is an avid reader, particularly anything self-help. Tony grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is delighted to be putting down roots in Portland with his wife, a Eugene-native, and his daughter.
“Tony masterfully balances the analytical, sharp instincts of an attorney with a heart-full concern and care of a nonprofit leader. A natural educator, he can explain the most complicated concepts in simple to understand language. He brings to his work a powerful optimism, commitment to social justice, and roll-up-your-sleeves drive to get things done.” Nancy Bacon, Nonprofit Consultant
