Unfortunately, I was irresponsible financially and made choices causing nearly 160k in debt to a lot of creditors including IRS and Oregon DOR - the worse part, I wasn't even a homeowner. I was stuck, felt lost, and was spiraling downhill fast. I read reviews about Mr. O'Brien and was so fortunate to hire him. He has seriously changed my life. I'm a better and more responsible person. He wasn't there just to collect fees, he treated me like family. He was there every time I needed counsel - even on weekends. My case was difficult, and Mr. O'Brien negotiated with all my creditors and trustee to the point where I can sleep at night. He made sure on every level, my financial mistakes were just that. We all live in a life where we have the right to make choices. Outside of marrying my beautiful wife, this choice to hire Mr. O'Brien was the best in my 35 years. Don't hesitate to think twice about hiring Mr. O'Brien.
I am still in an active chapter 13, and have been for nearly 3 years. I am on a maximum 5 year plan. The most recent thing (literally a week ago) Mr. O'Brien talked to the trustee to reduce my plan payment by nearly half the amount it was. Once again, even almost 3 years later, Mr. O'Brien is still right there with me through every step.
I just hope nobody has to experience the horrible financial mess I wrapped myself into - but should you need someone to help you and counsel you to a better you - please trust me and hire Mr. O'Brien. Don't waste energy and time searching and interviewing attorneys. Take it from someone that still is under his care.

We have been dealing with Michael for the past few years off and on. He has been very responsive and quick to get back to us with answers to our questions and concerns. We have never felt anything but trust with Michael and will use him for all our legal needs in the future.

Michael and his firm represented my wife and me in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. He is bright, attentive, and sensitive to the personal issues arising from bankruptcy. I have recommended him to a number of friends and business associates over the years and would use him again in a heartbeat.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am that Michael O'Brien was referred to me. He handled my foreclosure thoroughly and with the utmost professionalism. He explained the process in terms that I could understand and kept me apprised of the status along the way. I had a 20 year career as a legal assistant and was also married to an attorney for 22 years, so I have known many lawyers and witnessed many different styles of practice. I felt that Mike handled my case in a way that made me feel that I was an important client, yet he did not try to be my buddy or best friend, which can actually work against an attorney/client relationship in many ways. There were a few times where I had to send a second email to prompt a response from Mike, but having worked with so many attorneys in my past, I know how busy the legal field can be and I'm probably a bit more forgiving than some clients might be. Nonetheless, I felt that he always got back to me within a reasonable amount of time. I would have no reservations whatsoever recommending Mike to anyone in need of his services.

When the economy tanked in 2008, so did my business and it left me with a lot of personal financial debt that eventually led me to have to file for bankruptcy. Working with Michael, I was able to file for Chapter 7 and eliminate my debt. I simply could not be more happy with the level of professionalism and understanding that he and his staff provided, so that is why I am writing this review. His team is really good at what they do and treat his clients with respect and dignity, which was a welcomed change after dealing with harassing creditors.
If you are at that point where you are going to have to file for bankruptcy, do yourself a favor and set up an appointment with Michael to see if he can help. My initial meeting was no pressure where he reviewed my case and gave me an honest assessment of how he could help. Once I made the decision to use Michael, no time at all was wasted to get the process started and my bankruptcy petition filed.
He and his team were there throughout the entire process, which was about three months from when I made the decision to file until I got the discharge documentation from the court. Even afterwards, his team helped remove a lien that a creditor failed to remove after the bankruptcy was filed - that is customer service!

We had started our case with another lawyer, who completely dropped the ball and would have cost us thousands of dollars. Thankfully, were referred to Mr. O'BRIEN, who was able to see us immediately and literally saved the day. He or his trusty senior paralegal have responded immediately to our every inquiry, calming our fears and putting us at ease. This lawyer has our trust and our future business!

From day one Michael was direct, informative & was able to explain in detail my questions regarding the intricacies of dealing with my business and personal situation.
In a nut shell I saw him tower over his fellow attornies with industry knowlwedge and could back up his thoughts on the spot.

I endorse this lawyer. Mike is smart, knowledgeable, and able to gear the available solutions to the situation a debtor is in. I recommend setting up a consultation and getting his opinion before making any major decisions regarding debt or financial situations.
