Outstanding advice on patents, trademarks, IP issues

Our manufacturing company has used Leonard and his team for over a decade to assist us with a variety of issues related to patents and trademarks. I have found Leonard to be clear, concise, and knowledgeable.

He wrote the book

If you are looking for someone who understands ALL the ins and outs of Trademark and Copyright law and can lay it out for you in common sense layman terms, Leonard is the guy. He literally wrote the book on "Art Law". He understands the best way to approach people and I think he shares my feeling tha...t that people are mostly good and deserve to be treated that way util they prove themselves otherwise. I came to Leonard specifically because of his knowledge of trademark law, knowing full well his abilities in many creative areas. I have a very good "mark" and ran into a situation where someone wanted to challenge my registration after being turned down for use in a similar space. They approached this using what I now know is an old trick, threatening to file a petition for cancellation of my trademark. They did this in what I found to be accusatory and insultingly wrong approach. Leonard absorbed the petition along with my comments and immediately saw why I found their approach offensive. Obviously they were looking to come up with an agreement to co-exist. Not out of the question, but Leonard knew that I would have a hard time rewarding the kind of conduct I found so offensive. Their accusations of "abandonment" and "fraud" were both laughable and easily defendable. Taking that well into consideration he is working it out in a logical and protective way. I have huge respect for Mr DuBoff and the rest of his firm. I am happy to have him on my little team. We are a small company and he has been helpful in other areas as well. I feel in good hands and know he will protect our integrity at every turn.

Mr. Leonard D. DuBoff ( unbelievable )

My name is David and I believe that you have to stand up and be counted. I am not a person easily upset and I would rather do anything than to go to court; however, when it is time, it is all in. I run a Limited Liability Company, which I started in 2000. I am not an attorney; however, I have... represented my self in State and Federal court rooms on Civil matters for over ten years, an have not been overly impressed with Lawyers and there limited understanding of the law. Having said that I interview and hired an attorney practicing corporate law in Portland , Oregon to review the LLC. and see if I was on the right track. Some time latter I had a problem that involved another companies use of my Intellectual Property and was referred to Mr. Leonard D. DuBoff. I have to tell you I am not much into change, but when someone says I can't or don't want to...well its time. I called Mr. DuBoff not really knowing what to expect. Much to my surprise, he spoke English, not legalize, ( something even a simple boy like me can understand ). I had not yet taken the time to research Mr. DuBoff; however, after we talked a while I had confidence in him to ask him to send letter outlining my complaint. The response was impressive. I thought it over and made the decision to meet him face to face as I had some questions about restructuring my company and wanted to test his knowledge. As we entered our meeting, I could not help but notice the professional appearance of the office and staff ; clean ,well appointed and yet there was a welcoming feeling. In the room I noticed a book shelf filled with books he had pinned. As he entered the room, I could not help but notice his confidence and calm and I new I had met some one special. As we talked I was unbelievably impressed with his knowledge an understanding of not only the law, but of people. Every question I had , he answered in detail and in language I could understand. Mr. Leonard D. DuBoff has been in my corner ever since, I know there is nothing he is unable to handle........By the way, in this review I use " Mr." out of my great respect for the man, and the Attorney. Leonard as I have come to know him is a shining example to me in my life, and his wisdom is a blessing, I know without a doubt he has my back. Please read his profile and call his office if you have any needs. Thank you Mr. DuBoff, Leonard, for all you have done for me.

Great Attorney!

Mr. DuBoff has been my attorney for over 25 years. He has handled a variety of cases for me, mostly in the field of art copyright and business law. He has given me excellent advice, and gotten me out of some tight situations. A business associate of my husband put $40,000+ on my credit card and t...hen skipped town. The credit card company came after me for payment. Mr. DuBoff negotiated an excellent settlement for me, no interest, repaying only 25% of the original amount. On another occasion, he negotiated a lucrative licensing deal for me with a well-known manufacturer of collectible plates and porcelains. These are just two examples of what he has done for me in the past. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a sharp, but honest, attorney. His fees are reasonable in comparison to other attorneys of his caliber. And he is a good listener, with a sense of compassion.

Long-time Duboff client (20 years)

Leonard is extremely knowledgeable, particularly in inteleectual property law and general business law, though his firm has represented me skillfully in four different lawsuits over by business career. There are several things about Leonard that have set his apart from other attorneys I've dealt with.... First of all, when I first retained him to incorporate my business, I had little money and the business did not have particularly great prospects. Still, he gave me the same attention he now gives me when I am running a multi-million dollar international business. I also find that, when preparing a contract, he understands the give and take between the law and the fact that I have to get the other party to agree to the terms of the agreement. This allows Leonard and I to have a strategic conversation about the pros and cons of structuring the agreement in different ways, rather than having him insist on an approach where the other party feels he's being accused of potential wrong-doing before we've even started to do business together. This is a fine line, and Leonard's understanding of the realities of these situations in addition to the law makes working with him much easier, and much more productive. Finally, in twenty years I have never had the sense that he is padding the bill, or that he was clocking time where we weren't actually just chatting about this and that--something I've never been sure of with other attorneys. Leonard is a class act, very knowledgable, very honest, and very easy to work with.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Leonard was one of my law professors in law school. I was also privileged to share space in his building and enjoyed having him as a resource in areas in which I do not practice. He is kind and enjoyable to work with and is a gifted communicator. Clients we served together often came away understanding complex issues because of how he presented them. He is a also a shrewd tactician who understands the dynamics of litigation and how best maximize a client's advantage. I recommend him for business formation and litigation, as well as Intellectual Property matters. I enjoy my continued good relationship with him and refer clients when the needs arise."
