Bankruptcy... that word was to us like nails on chalkboard. Yet so was our financial condition. You know how it is when you are in that dark place and you feel that someone is about to take advantage of what you are unable to know or see? Meeting Kelly Jones was the precise opposite; in our dark pla...ce he illuminated what was previously to us an untenable decision. Graciously he walked us through a variety of options; providing counsel without which we could not possibly have easily navigated. Now on the other side, we'd still say that bankruptcy is distasteful. But we could not imagine walking through such murky waters without him. Today, as we look back on our experience with Kelly Jones, it is with grattitude; and we are referring to his firm a loved one who finds himself in dire straits, taking comfort in knowing the one we love will be in safe and capable hands.

I had a private party contact my employer and attempt to garnish my income in the amount of 31k! It was not my debt, but soley my husbands debt. The person sued my husband and got a default judgment, he then went after me, thinking it would be legitimate since we are married. Not so in the state of O...regon, since it is not a "community property" state. My payroll dept was under the impression that they would have to honor the writ, since it had a court seal/stamp on the ppwk. However, there was another issue entirely, as the lawsuit was filed in WA state and never even properly domesticated to OR, but rather just "recorded" at the WA County courthouse (which doesn't mean much). On top of all that, the proper ppwk/forms were not filed with my payroll office, AND private entities cannot submit for garnishment (its unlawful). Basically, Kelly wrote a detailed letter and submitted it to my employer, as well as calling them directly. Kelly impressed me right from the beginning because he responded to my email very quickly, scheduled a phone consult and ended up calling me at the exact time we had set up. He was very thorough and reviewed all my ppwk before discussing the situation with me. We scheduled a time to meet in person and he typed up the letter while I was in his office. He was so compassionate, wanting to make sure this got resolved quickly since it was so unjust and so clearly invalid. His fee was reasonable and he took into account my financial situation. I was so pleased and relieved when my payroll dept responded to the letter saying that they would NOT HONOR THE WRIT of garnishment. Kelly is a LIFESAVER! Losing 31k would have destroyed my household, my kids and I (probably for 5+ years, until it would all be paid & would have destroyed my credit which is stellar). I cannot thank Kelly Jones enough, he is so good at what he does! I highly, highly recommend him!
