I am an attorney licensed to practice law in both Oregon state courts as well as the Federal Bankruptcy/District Court in Portland. I am a proud member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the Nationalk Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. I am the 2014 Chair of the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section.
I received my undergraduate degree from Marylhurst University located just outside of Portland. I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Willamette College of Law in Salem in 2007 and moved back to Portland to practice law. I am originally from Michigan, but I have lived in Oregon for about 12 years, and I will never move back to the Midwest (sorry Michiganders!). Since law school, I have been practicing as a solo attorney, or as a part of a small firm, and have learned the practice of law from the “ground up.” I have focused my practice on bankruptcy and consumer law largely because I feel that it is an under-served area of the law. I get to help out the everyday person or a family who needs a fresh economic start, or who have been unlawfully taken advantage of. Far too often, merchants, creditors, and debt collection companies cross the line and engage in abusive practices that violate state or federal laws. When this happens, I zealously seek the justice that my clients’ deserve, defending their rights against the heavy hand and significant resources of the debt collection companies and the big law firms that represent them.
Like most Oregonians, I enjoy outdoor activities like camping and hiking. I also love sports (Go Blazers!), traveling, movies, gardening, and good food. I am firmly rooted in the Portland community. I believe that Oregon, and Portland specifically, stands at the gateway to the “New West,” and I am grateful that I can be a part of the exciting changes and unique challenges that will continue to come our way.

A Light in an Otherwise Dark Place
Bankruptcy... that word was to us like nails on chalkboard. Yet so was our financial condition. You know how it is when you are in that dark place and you feel that someone is about to take advantage of what you are unable to know or see? Meeting Kelly Jones was the precise opposite; in our dark pla...

He is the BEST!
I had a private party contact my employer and attempt to garnish my income in the amount of 31k! It was not my debt, but soley my husbands debt. The person sued my husband and got a default judgment, he then went after me, thinking it would be legitimate since we are married. Not so in the state of O...

Highly recommend Kelly D. Jones!
Bankruptcy court seems scary, but if you need to face that challenge, I recommend Kelly D. Jones to represent you. He guided me through all the details and helped de-mystify the process and represented me in court. He's so helpful and kind, I highly recommend him.

Well Worth it!
Made this embarrassing process easy to understand, put my anxieties at ease, and was always available to answer any of my questions. Would highly recommend Kelly to anyone in the same situation.
"I have known Kelly for many years and highly respect him. He is passionate, has an inquisitive mind, and develops complex legal arguments that are highly developed and well thought out. He also brings compassion and good humor to his work. I refer potential clients in his area of practice to him."
"Kelly is a deep thinker and engaged in the practice of consumer and bankruptcy law. He questions and independently verifies the information he relies on when he is representing his clients. That is a trait that is unique in this profession as most lawyers try to cram your problem into the only solution they have. I have great confidence in his skill as a lawyer and his commitment to consumers and consumer protection."
"Kelly is a fantastic attorney who is dedicated to helping Oregon's consumers. He is an asset to our legal community and stands ready to help those who need it most!"
"I have known and worked professionally with Kelly for many years now. His attention to detail and keen intellect consistently impress me. He has that rare ability to simultaneously absorb the big picture without losing sight of the little pieces of each legal puzzle. I highly endorse Kelly's work."
"I've worked closely with Mr. Jones in our previous joint-law practice. His attention to detail and eye for nuance is unmatched. I approve his work."
